  • The runner beans are just starting to sprout and the climbing french beans are about a foot high. I think I started them of a bit soon. I've no idea how big they will be by the time I can plant them out in mid May I probably won't be able to get them out of the door into the garden.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

I would love to do this... I heard about the chammomile lawn a while back.
    Maybe one day....

Yesterday, I managed to plant on all my little plugs. I will get them into the coldframe tomorrow... hopefully.
    :)

Or creeping lemon thyme. It really does smell lemony, so although it grows like a weed you can tell everyone it's actually essential to your gourmet garden. ;)

I've sown some runners today. Three I saved from last year and three LAYA (Long As Your Arm) for my competition. It doesn't sound like you're desperately early.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.
  • I'm not worried about the runners its the climbing french beans. They are getting very tall, have potted them on twice, just hoping that I don't have to do it again before I plant them out.

I remember last year planting beans for the first time.
They sprouted & shot up in no time. I was glad I used deep post. Don't fear though, they may look big in the pots they are in, but they'll be fine when you come to plant them out in 2-3 weeks. It just means you'll have plenty of stalk to wrap around your cane frame.

I've sown beans & peas this year - never done peas befor. Looking forward to how they do.:)
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.
  • Anyone grown leeks from seed before?

Mine are about 2 inches tall and very thin in small shallow seed trays, do I need to !!!!! them out or leave them as they are? Last year I bought leek seed and put them straight into the bed but they were much bigger then these ones and also thicker.

For your leeks; plant the whole tray out in a corner somewhere a little deeper than the actual tray, and sweep some nice soil over the top and water in. Then, just leave until the space for your final leeks is free [usually after the potatoes are out]. Then, dig up the leeks which will be alot bigger by then, and plant them into their final positions. Water in and then harvest during the winter when you are in need of lovely leek and potato soup. :D
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

And so would I. I've sown the leek seed, but I'm still waiting for them to do something.
