Most impresive MrBE. I always enjoy looking at your pics. Are the smal pink and white globes Turnips or Radish ?
Could you do another pic. with the T.towel the right way up as I can't make out what it says, thank you.0 -

They're baby Arcoat turnips. A colleague at work asked me for some little ones (he's a bit of a Masterchef wannabe). I'd have let them grow bigger if they were for me.
The teatowel reads "Beddgelert", with a precis of the story. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Ahha, thanks MrBE. I thought the towel had a recipe on it which is why I was curious. I will go and look up "Beddgelert" in a min.
I've never tired growing Turnips but suspect it may not yet be too late for this season if I'm quick off the mark.
i'm rather miffed as I've spent weeks cosseting what I thought were my Soya Bean seedlings and they've morphed in to gigantic Nicotiana plants ! Must have come out of my home-made compost bin.0 -

Look for something like Purple Top Milan or Arcoat if you want fast-maturing summer turnips. Plenty of time for winter varieties I think. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

What are the red ones?
My harvesting isn't going well at the moment, potatoes are fine, the birds are eating all my blueberries. Other than that nothing else is ready/edible-the mange tout were going great and nearly ready to harvest until last week, something has got into the container and ravaged them! The leaves are nearly all eaten and lots of the pods have holes in them/are damagedThe peas and beans seem to be suffering a similar fate.
I pulled a carrot up yesterday as I thought they were ready but despite the tops being huge the carrots are tiny, bolted perhaps?
I have tomatoes forming and lots of chillis and a few peppers, but none are ready yet.
So all in all, not great0
