Is it just the flower petals falling off, or does the stalk come away too? If it's just the petals it may be because it's been pollinated and the chilli is starting to develop. If not, it may be because no insects were able to pollinate it because it's inside.
I think. :undecidedIf you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
hmmm, there are insects. Window is open etc etc and peppers haven't had any problems in pollinating.
It essentially looks like the flowers are dying and just falling off. They're really puny too.0 -
Get it outside in the sunshine. Pick a sunny, sheltered spot and all should be well. Watch it's not too windy though. What size pot is it in?If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0

Hey all, been busy so been absent (not as busy as MrBE though!)
Garden has got quite busy - beans are flowering now (white flowers, I always thought they were red?). Did a massive weeding project across the whole garden to try and protect/re-invigorate the beetroot that is in the ground. Planted some carrots in pots which are now coming through. Repotted a lot of toms, & am getting more flowers now. Starting to struggle for space!
This weekend will mean more tomato repotting. The pepper plants are now circa 6" tall, so I may repot them too. Got a lot of lettuce on the go.
Have noticed that the onions have kicked on a bit again after the weeding!
How do I know that onions and potatoes are ready for harvesting?
(I have the additional problem with my potatoes, in that they are growing under the peas & beans, as I threw all the potato peelings in the composter & put them in the ground where I was to plant peas & beans as I heard that this would hold moisture in the ground.)It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

You could also try hand pollinating them with a small paintbrush. I've been doing that with my peppers. My chillis haven't flowered yet but I'll do the same with them when (or if!!) they do.0 -
Lemonjelly
When onions are ready for lifting their necks go soft and the top foliage falls over - it can look like they've been flattened by the wind. Feel the stalk just above the actual onion - if it's soft they are ready.

Thank You MBE
I'd just popped in to see how your garden was doing.
Whilst I'm here can I mention the fact that I had 7 nice rasberries the other day, yellow ones at that.
My peas are doing well, pods filling out, yellow beans look dodgy, carrots have got lots on top but don't know what lurks beneath:eek:
The potatoes in the not very well rotted compost out of the dalek are growing. I had to empty the dalek to move it whilst the fence was repaired and then couldn't face trying to lift bags of nearly compost back in so they've got spuds in!
Also, I've got 6 Tomato plants in Mr M's pots outside and they are growing pretty well . They are 'Black Cherry' which i haven't had before so I'll let you know how they get on.
Right, off to feel me goosegogs:T0 -
