our first set of ambulance rapid respinders were Zadira's (diesel) couldn't tell you the exact model, but we ditched them in 2008 - 2009 in favour of the Skoda Octavia Scout estate.
The main reason was engine reliability caused by the pariculate filter - heavy oil useage then cam failure, and also gearbox problems. also due to summer tyres they are crap handling in colder weather. anything below 6 degreees they seem to suffer
We have a few left that are still to finish their lease, but the responder crews won't drive them if there is a Skoda available.

Be careful you don't end up buying one that could be ex ambulance lease. they will probably go to auction after we have finished with them

From what my mate in YAS said ( Iassume you are YAS aswell) they may have been SRis, but was told they had the 150cdti engine.
The ones in the "big smoke" are 120cdti with Autobox, the reason for the engine issues are that the DPF works by injecting extra diesel to increase the temp in the DPF, but if you turn it off or don't complete the regen then the diesel ends up in the sump.

Vauxhall told us not to have them, the working party group told them we don't want them, the MetPol said we where mad, but we BOUGHT over 300 anyway, then got them painted RAL Yellow, we had asked for Silver with yellow bonnet so that they could be sold after we where finished.

The backhander was obviously far too large and now we are stuck with them, though thankfully the Unibods and other "pilots" have managed to right a fair few off, around 100 by all accounts, so we are still using Astra on an 52, 03 or 53 plate when we run short.

Bearing in mind we reshell them if the engine and box is still working, so that is 100 that couldn't be fixed.

We are getting Skodas aswell, with the DSG box, a coice between the Yeti, Octavia Estate or Scout if Skoda will put the DSG box in it, funnily enough the working party group and the FRU drivers asked for Skodas years ago.

Oh, my mate said he likes the new 3.0 Diesel Spinters up in YAS, we have opted for the 2.2 with an autobox in London:rotfl:, and yes they are crap.

90% of ours have rubbish heaters and rubbish AC, though they are all fairly quiet on low settings, but when the fitted the Radio, MDT's and SatNav they built a nice custom enclosure, but when they did so they disconnected most of the plumbing for the vents. On all but the 55 plates that is, they just bolted them to the dash, actually worked better, but hey what do I know;).

Well since I was replying to EXUP I can pretty much say what I want, this being a public forum and all that. I actually made a specific comment to EXUP, you know two like minded professionals and all that.

What exactly has your comment got to do with the anything, you just want this entire forum to turn into a slagging match, if you don't like what is posted then read another thread, or is that to complicated.

Just so as you know, the Ambulances that i was talking about, and in fact EXUP was talking about where Zafiras, if I add a little extra into a thread due to the person I am replying to being a fellow Health Care Professional then I shall do so. Bearing in mind long term harsh usage of any vehicle will show up any weaknesses, I didn't see anybody complaining when this kind of in depth knowledge may be helpful, after all when they are used as an Ambulance they are treated to much harsher treatment than any domestic use, apart from Minicabbing.

Now run along, your mum is calling you for your dinner. Make sure you eat your greens, you wouldn't want to grow up to be pedant, now would you. Oh, actually it may already be too late.

Every time I come on here I wish my mate that used to run the BigWhiteTaxiService Forum could be convinced to start it back up again.
