Not much to say at the moment. I decided to call Consumer direct just to see what they had to say about the situation. I don't want to go into too much detail at the moment until after I call M&S tomorrow. But there is still a tiny glimmer of hope. I'll update tomorrow.

Thanks for the update Bonbon. I hope the result is in your favour and you get your chair/chairs. Please keep us updated.

Not sure why, but I'm loving this thread and the outcome x

Sorry to say...... no chairs for me :(
I spoke to Consumer Direct yesterday and they said that there could be a case of Breach of Contract as they have taken our money. Also that there is a law called 'Loss of Bargain' where you could claim the difference in price of having to buy replacements. Sorry I don't know how to do links, but if you google 'Loss of bargain' you will see an MSE thread there. The question isn't quite relevent but it's worth reading the answers.CD said that it would probably mean small claims court etc. and to be honest just not worth it for £2.
I called M&S today and they said the classic 'it was an error and we couldn't possibly have sold them to you for that price. and we actually don't do them in that colour any more'
The result was predictable, but it was fun while it lasted.

What a sad end. I think they should at least send some Champagne to help with the loss of the bargain!!
