How is this card going to be blocked?
It won't be they are just feeding you rubbish. It might be against the t&c's to sell the card but it isn't against the law. Unless there is some sort of account number on the card and you have posted an actual picture of it then there is no way for them to track it. I would reply to the next representative and tell them to go ahead and block the card. There's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.0 -
Thank you backontrack
No just a picture of the card has been post, not the serial or any other number.
I do not particularly like Next, this just confirms it. Hmmm what to do with this card?0 -
You could ask the representative if they would like to buy it

More seriously you must know someone who shops at next (family member, work collegue) as them if they would like it.There's no sense crying over every mistake.

The terms and conditions allow a card to be blocked if it has been re-sold.
The card has not (yet) been re-sold so I am confused why they are saying they may block it now. Surely they should just be warning if it was resold it can be blocked.
Does anyone know if Next are in breach of their own terms and conditions or is an offer to sell enough for them to block it?

P.S. What do these bits of the terms and conditions mean:
If found please cut in two and return to The Next Banking Department, ....
....
Next cannot accept responsibility for your card if it is lost, stolen or damaged. It will not be replaced or its value refunded in any of these circumstances.
By asking to cut it up and return it to them they are taking away the money from the person who brought it. Would it be better if you find a card to hand it into the Police so the person who lost it can get it back without Next taking the money.
P.P.S. I wish they would make up their minds whose card it is:
Your Gift Card can be used by you if you are the purchaser or given as a gift.
...
You can top up your card at any time....
....
This card remains the property of Next.
P.P.P.S. Last time I was given a Gift Card at Christmas the company went bust a few weeks later - I dislike Gift Cards.0 -
Yeah gift cards blow in my opinion. There is also the point when these are given as a gift the person receiving the card has never agreed to the terms and conditions so I don't see why they should be bound by them. I would imagine that retailers must have millions of pounds which are unspent on gift cards so is effectivley free money for them and if they receive a cut up giftcard then they can then remove the liability of the money from the card their accounts. There's no sense crying over every mistake.

Who gave it to you ?
Give it back to them next time they have a birthday/Christmas ?Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.
