Stereo techie question

Hoping this forum isn't exclusively for computer techie problems...!
Have recently bought a vintage turntable to rediscover my vinyl collection. I knew my micro system wouldn't directly support the addition of a turntable so bought a phono preamp, and connected it all up.
Good news is it (after some basic errors on my part), it now plays (whoop) BUT it is only coming out of one of the speakers. The speaker is connected fine (a cd plays in stereo).
Can someone advise where I may have gone wrong? I think it may be the leads I've bought- the leads have red and black plugs at each end, whereas the sockets are red and white rimmed (hoping this makes sense!)
Any help appreciated!
Thanks
Hug

If they are phono leads, try them the other way around to see if the working speaker swaps
the colour isn't relevant!!

What type of plugs have you got at the micro end. Did you swap at input or output side of pre amp.0

What cables are going into the pre-amp? May be the problem there. Can you swap these round?0

Swap at amp could be the plug at amp end or amp itself. If working speaker changes it's the plug if not amp.0

Swap at Micro could be the plug at micro end or micro itself. If working speaker changes it's the plug if not micrp0
