Sorry CLOSED, firefox keeps running on offline mode on the lappy.

You also need to check if the wireless adapter is running with the correct drivers.

On the contrary - you sound more clued up than most PC World staff and your replies were clear and concise.

Just to clarify - what Mista_C told you was correct don't try to undo it.

Don't go to PC World. Come back on here tomorrow (tonight!) and you'll have wireless sorted in no time.

For info this sounds like either the Virgin Media Hub (NETGEAR VMDG280) or Virgin Media Super Hub(NETGEAR VMDG480) both with integrated cable modem.
Sassybird can you confirm?
If so, default security is WPA-PSK[TKIP] + WPA2-PSK[AES]

If all else fails phone Virgin Media and ask them to fix your connection or you will leave them! You shouldn't pay for a replacement router, if the current is faulty, which it probably isn't, then they should replace it and if not then they should get your connection working.

So phone VM and tell them your paying for a connection which you cannot use and ask them to sort it. If they give you any hassle say you will leave them if it isn't sorted!
