Interview on Wednesday.....second opinion needed

It's difficult to think what to say about the constructive criticsm you've been given. I too suffer greatly with nerves before an interview but when I get in there I just seem to flick a switch and the nerves go away. I spend my time waiting for the interview taking slow deep breaths to calm myself down and telling myself that I can do this and to stop being so stupid. It normally works. In fact i've begun to worry am I taking it too far and they think i'm too casual. I just can't win!
You've just got to be yourself the best you can. At least you know now and can try to think of ways around it.
I'll wish you all the best for tomorrow if you do the same for me, i've got an interview at 2.00pm.!0 -
the answer to nerves is practice! although some also find Rescue Remedy helps. and stew's advice is good too.Signature removed for peace of mind0

The first interview is always hardest after a period of stable employment because you are out of practice and therefore build it up to be worse than it is. The next one you do will be that bit less daunting so you should be able to relax a bit and give a bit more of yourself.
That said its also the case that an interview is a two way process, and if you and they don't connect then sometimes its no bad thing if you don't get offered the job. Something else will (and clearly has) come along which will be with different people and they may warm to you more.
Recruitment isn't an exact science - its managers trying to judge a stranger and trying to see how they might fit into a team or role whilst the "stranger" is trying to present a picture which also may mean they act a bit differently.
If you've had 3 interviews in a week, you must be doing something right so just take a minute when you get in, try and gauge their temperament, and go along accordingly. If they are stuffy and formal about it then keep it crisp, if they are chatty then relax with them - don't forget its stressful the other side too, so if you can subtely help them feel at ease it will make you appear much more the sort of person they want in their team.Adventure before Dementia!0 -
I'm feeling a bit more positive today
.
Had an interview at 10am this morning and got the call for a second interview on my way home, so that's on Friday. Had an interview with another company at 2pm and they want to see me for a second interview on Saturday
Got a meeting with a Recruitment Agency that specialises in my field tomorrow and they seemed positive they had some roles they could put me forward for too, so hopefully I'll get some more interviews lined up for next week.
Anybody know anything about the McQuaig Word Survey? Had this "test" today and am intrigued to say the least! My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to sayIgnore......check!0
