I often find that buyers who are paying by cheque will just post the cheque to you without going through ebay checkout and without emailing to tell you that they have sent a cheque. It may well be that a cheque is on its way.

I do send polite reminders though after two days and five days if no responmse to the first reminder, then after seven, if I have had no response at all, I file a NPB claim with eBay. The way I see it, if the buyer has sent me a cheque and doesn't let me know after an invoice and two reminders, then it is reasonable for me to treat them as a NPB. Good communication is really important for both buyer and seller.

If the cheque is going to take more than 7 days t reach me then they buyer needs to let me know that in advance. It's not a problem if that is the case. I have one at the moment who I have given 2 weeks to pay because they are away from home - no problem because they let me know this early on.

So, send the polite reminder and see what response you get.

I thought it was 14 days before you can file a NPB?

On day 7, although it actually seems more like day 8 in reality, you can start the NPB process. 7 days after that if the item remains unpaid you can close the process and reclaim your FVF.

Unless the buyer looked really really dodgy I wouldn't even think about starting NPB until at least day 10.

Same here. I sold a load of stuff about a month ago and had three who hadn't paid after a week. One had over 700 feedback, the other 300 and the other was a newbie with 0. On day 7 I sent a last reminder to the two members with feedback but went straight ahead and filed a NPB on the newbie as I saw he'd been bidding on a lot of similar items to mine but had won one for half the price
    Titch :)
