For me......Partworks...I was a sucker for that when I lived at home with my parents. Not huge sums of money in the scheme of things, but what a waste!
Houseplant index cards that you filed in binders. IIRC it was about £10 a month for 18 months or something, and you had to pay for the binders seperately. I bought one house plant, killed it, then never bothered to look at the index cards again.
Monthly goodies box of make up and beauty products specially picked to suit my colourings for £15 a month - didn't use half of it. kept it for a few months then chucked it away! I seem to remember keeping this going for about 2 years!
Hmm....there's an interesting partworks to build a beautiful 1:8 scale Aston Martin DB7  at £6.99 per issue and 85 issues to complete....i think not! :rotfl:0 -

Grolier book club, free books and the rest of the set at bargain prices! Or so I thought...
Books I didn't want, they kept sending them with letters charging £1 even though I had notified in writing end of contract. Paying to send books back to them I would not buy (and costing more to send back than buy!) I have since found several people stung by them too, never again.0 -

Fence paintsprayer...
I bought one - and a new car too.
Unfortunately the wind blew up suddenly and I sprayed my new car brown by mistake.
It came off eventually - my swearing practically blew it off.
Just recently... Purchased a plate from EBay.
The wrong one arrived, so I sent it back.
The nasty plate purveyor refused to give me back the postage I'd spent, as he doesn't have to - according to ebay's rules.
Hint- Company name begins with a C.

maybe not the biggest waste of money, but one that's really annoying .......... parking tickets!
over the 30+ years of driving i haven't had THAT many, and have finally learned my lesson and not had one for years, but that moment of self kicking when you find a ticket on the windscreen; you've only yourself to blame and it is such a stupid waste of money!!!!0 -
A personalised number plate that only means anything to me. What a complete waste of money.
Note to self: DO NOT BUY ANYTHING ONLINE WHEN MORE THAN HALF OF THE BOTTLE OF WINE HAS GONE !!!!!!
A contract with 3 Mobile. Nice phone, but hasn't lasted for the 18 months of the contract and they won't replace it until October. And most "unlocked " phones won't work with my 3 sim, so I'm stuck with an old brick. Won't be renewing with 3, that's for sure.0 -
1. A laptop monthly direct debit warranty from PC World that I didn't cancel until over a year later. Have since found out that you get a year warranty from the manufacturer's! I was 18 years old though, I guess it takes time to discover these things!
2. 'Administration fees' to change flights. I will never use Opodo/BA again, they wouldn't let me change my flights and was pretty much stranded in China because it was a non-refundable/changeable flight aka a 'cheap flight'... £500 odd isn't cheap to MOST people!0 -
Any Expensive camera equipment. It stays safely locked away at home. All my successful photos were taken on a cheap (less than £20) camera that I carried with me. Mobile phone cameras need at least 5mb. preferably more.0

Horses ! may give lots of pleasure, but you need a bottomless supply of £££££ to pay for it ! I also bought a £2500 horse intending to do dressage but then found the costs of all the other stuff....I sold the horse on (sadly as he was such a sweetheart for a 17hh german warmblood)....each shoeing (farrier) session cost £55 and this was in the mid 90's I dread to think how much it is today, and the farrier had to come every 4 - 6 weeks depending on the level of work the horse did, plus all the feed ...omg.....What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0
