Very happy with Mobiles.co.uk

Obviously direct personal experience, such as you refer to, is a better barometer than number of positive/negative posts. So it is reassuring to read why you think things are better than a year ago.
Accepting that one needs to be cautious with the CPW group, I am a bit happier about helping yet another friend in a couple of months' time take out a contract with this company than I was 3 or 4 months ago.
Unless you have better information, combined with Topcash/Quidco they still seem to offer the best deals at present.0 -
I have a Topcashback payment which hasn't tracked or been addressed dating back several months; I also know that i am not alone in that!0
-
Our two Quidco payments came through on time and are banked (and spent).Love your Mum, you'll never get another one when she's gone.0

I've had dozens of payments - but lost hundreds of pounds with Quidco (mainly all in recent times). It's not a question of the payments they DO make; once a merchant has paid you usually get the money. Use them more and for a range of merchants and you may well have another story to tell!0

Hi All, Not sure if this is classed as thread high-jacking- I hope not!!!!!
Have just spent the past 3 hours reading posts about this company and also general cash back deals and am still none the wiser!! It seems so confusing!! I just wanted to gauge your opinion on the deal I have found: Yes its with Mobiles.co.uk which I gather from my reading has been a bit iffy in the past but is getting better (as proved maybe by HopePray's post) but its with an Automatic Cashback deal.
Its a deal on Vodafone for £20.42 for 600 mins and unlimited texts with £130 Automatic cashback (therefore working out approx 15 squid a month if my maths is correct). I just wondered seeing as a lot of comments about this company have been about the cash back by redemption issue (which I am NOT organised enough to do!!!!) if this looked a safer bet?
I am very wary of the bad press around the company but it seems crazy to go to vodafone direct or phones4U or companies like that and pay full price when there are such deals to be had....
All advice gratefully received and really sorry if I have high-jacked and broken any rules!! :eek:0 -
Can't see any rules you have broken PPPretty_Pennies wrote: »All advice gratefully received and really sorry if I have high-jacked and broken any rules!!
Mobiles.co.uk is a company that sells cheap phones .....the catch is that there is no customer service whatsoever and should there be the slightest problem you will have no end of problems.
The company is dire as are the staff and trying to get a problem sorted is nothing but a struggle.
Yes there are many that rely on getting the cashback from them to make the deal sweet and for those that take the risk knowing the pitfalls should anything go wrong perhaps they feel confident they can deal with them ?
I like to think there are a few less problems being reported on here because members are becoming wise and not dealing with them rather than an improvement of their service.
A bit like buying a Lada years ago ...you don't hear many complaints about them like you used to
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:It's not just about the money0 -
Ok - quick summary. Mobiles.co.uk are part of Carphonewarehouse so, as far as financial stability goes, they are one of the safer bets.
Autocashback should be - I repeat should be - a safer way for newcomers to get a cashback as they don't have to remember the claim periods and go through hoops to reclaim the cashback. That is why Autocashback deals give less cashback than normal ones.
Now, without wishing to provoke any other contributors to this forum, may people have no problems with this company, but, alas, a lot have. These generally fell into the area, as Silk says, of atrocious Customer Services and searching this forum will provide many examples.
Regrettably, there are also some threads where they have failed to honour cashbacks - including at least one on an automatic cashback.
You need to start off by asking yourself one basic question "If they don't pay, am I prepared to go to Small Claims to get my payment?" If you are, then you really have no worries about getting paid as I would estimate that in 99% of the cases that have involved MoneyClaimOnLine, they have settled rather than go to court. There should be absolutely no dispute in the case of an Autocashback.
You will read from regular contributors that they still continue to use this company when they offer good deals, buut have no hesitation in going straight to LBA/MCOL if they fail to abide by their t&c. It's the only way to be, I am afraid.
You next need to consider "What happens if the handset is faulty or develops a fault?" Well, if the CS is poor, then toy are going to have s struggle in getting them to liaise with you. However, you have certain rights under DSR and SOGA, - work on the assumption that you will be offered repairs rather than replacement
Don't like the handset? - your 7 days inspection doesn't give you the right of changing handsets because you don't like the one you ordered unless you have neither opened it nor inserted the sim. (They are not that different from other distance 3rd party resellers on that.) So do your testing in a High Street shop and Google the handset you want for customer reviews first.
Not that quick a summary after all, sorry !!0 -
I would question just one part of that:-

There are many people who lost claims because they failed to follow the groundrules. you can only sue if you have the proof to win, otherwise you are throwing good money after bad.
I have never subscribed to the "just send the claims on time and you'll get your money" statements from some - neither is it true that all you need to do is sue if they don't pay up and you will get your money. There are no shortcuts if you want to be extremely confident of getting paid no matter what! Most of the time you will get paid anyway - but enforcement requires proper care from the point of order and beyond.0 -

Yes, you are, of course, correct about following ground rules and keeping proof.
My summary was specifically aimed at the autocashback question from Pretty Pennies where you don't need (theoretically !) to make a claim and the money should roll in automatically after 14 days. In those cases, it should be a racing certainty that any claim would win, as long as - as you say - the claimant has all the proof and followed the ground rules.0
