Went on deposit for new car we needed! Its the only nice thing we 'own'
Oh right, I thought there was something about car repayments or something ? Maybe I read it wrong!
I just assumed you were saving towards a deposit as that was the thread you originally posted it on!

I dont think Blobby8 was rude as such, just asking when someone can't afford to live with the family they've got, why have another child. Maybe a bit direct, but it was probably a question that a lot of people thought.!!

I have to agree with this to be honest! It was one of my first thoughts & from what the OP has said so far, either her head is well & truly buried in the sand still or she just thinks that having another kid will entitle them to more benefits, either attitude needs to change now if she's to sort out the situation that she loathes so much (renting, hubby working so many hours, not having enough "nice" things etc).

Sugarpants - please take on board what others have said so far, take some time out today to just sit & think about your current situation, where you want to be instead, & what you have to change to get there.

You are going to have another child in x weeks/months, & although I'm assuming you already have the big things (car seat, cot, clothes etc) from your other 2 kids still, this third child WILL require more money to be spent on him or her, especially the older he or she gets.

You made the choice to have three children, so they are your priority over any "nice" things you desire.

My suggestion to you is to echo what others have said - you need to change your attitude if you're to survive - no more blaming others, only you can change your situation! Concentrate on being grateful for what you have, not what you don't. Be a bit more supportive of your husband, he is clearly trying very hard to make you & the kids happy so next time he complains about his job remember to thank him for all the hard work he is doing, tell him how proud it makes you that he is keeping a roof over your heads, food in your bellies & how much you love him & the kids you both brought into this world.
    • Find a way to reduce the payments on the car, a brand new car although nice, is VERY expensive, & something you just can't afford. Swap it for something cheaper.
    • If you hate your house so much find somewhere else, preferably somewhere cheaper.
    • Cut your food bill down - I'd suggest taking part in the grocery challenge as there's LOTS of good advice there.
    • Once these changes have been made & you are starting to save some money, pay off any debt ASAP. Then from there, re-evaluate what you (hopefully) have left over each month & save what you can towards the house you so desperately desire.
And finally, good luck! If you get your head out of the sand now & make a few sacrifices it WILL pay off in the end.

  • Have you considered mystery shopping? It won't help you this month, but I've found it to be a very good source of extra income, plus a way of buying myself a few goodies on the way at no cost. There are forums on here that give you the know how on what to do. I've banked 70 quid in a week doing bits and bobs... also been reimbursed for a few purchases that I would have needed to buy anyway, win win!

Cheaper area would be miles away from kids school and theres no way we can do that. Our area aint even posh sadly we live in the home counties near to London hence high rent

I concur, I live in HC too and 875 really isn't high for a 3 bed house (esp depending on what part of Berkshire you live in) - unfortunately.

On the food front, what about looking into to supercook.com OP? You list evrything that you have in your cupboard/freezer and it generates a recipe for you. Maybe but some flour, make some jam tarts with basic range jam, maybe buy bread mix, make your own pizza base & bread.Thats on the food front. On the money side, maybe a quick return( no postage) take unused /unwanted cds/games kitchen gadgets to a cash convertor. xx

thats a good idea i will try that:)

I agree hope you are well and wish you the best.

I know how you feel I was BR last year and we struggled big style.

I still work the same sort of hours as your OH and we get by:)
  • Wow! £875 rent seems a lot for a 3 bedroomed house but I guess that is maybe not that much living in Berkshire.

You and your husband could look at delivering the yellow pages between you. I did it last March time and made a few hundred pounds. They offered me one local round at first then when I had finished I got another. It was really worth doing. The money didnt sound great at first but you soon get through them. The first round worked out at £12 per hour in the end and the second (there was a lot of units) worked out at around £9 per hour. I put my name down online and they gave me a call nearer the time. Deya organise it around here but it could be another company near you. Good Luck I hope you get yourselves sorted out soon.

Sorry "sugarpants" no, it will not just get better, you have a problem with budgeting, you are spending unwisely, the sooner you take on board the constructive criticism the better.
You are responsible for three children, wise up. I dont care who thinks this is harsh or rude, but having no food is not good.
