It seems a lot of palaver.
Why did he not pay the parking ticket fine? These thing do not just go away.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
I really don't understand how this situation has got so bad that bailiffs are involved. As others have stated, if the ticket was issued unfairly why did he not dispute this vigorously at the time and appeal. I know I would! However if he does deserve the ticket and he was actually parked there illegally then why not just pay it. Surely no parking ticket is worth all this worry and upset.
There is no way I would agree to do what he has asked you to do, but it does seem as though you have decided to do it anyway, in which case why ask the opinions of others

As has been pointed out, any more tickets and driving offences racked up on this vehicle will be in your husband's name.
Apart from the deception of the transfer, to back date the receipt will be executing a fraudulent document.
Bailiffs are not daft. They will already have checked ownership and if they suspect the van was transferred to avoid paying they will simply keep watch on where the van is kept and who is driving it. They will undoubtedly soon be able to prove that although there are documents that allege the van was sold, the sale did not take place. They will be taking photographs.
It does appear you have already made up your minds to do this. Can I ask you please therefore not to come on here in the future complaining that your friend has been racking up tickets and driving offences which he refuses to take responsibility for.0 -
I don't get it - why would you want to do this? The only thing it'll lead to is hassle, why would you consider it? Say no. His fine has to be paid, so he'd be doing himself a favour working out just how to do that.0

How much does he owe the bailiffs? It seems like an awful lot of trouble to go to for a parking ticket.
What if you do as he suggests? I take it he will still drive the vehicle? What if the same thing happens again? Your husband will then get the next parking ticket as the registered owner of the van and if your friend decides not to pay the whole scenario starts over again, only this time the bailiffs will be calling at your door.0 -
how could he drive it when he wouldn't be insured for it?
sounds like a downward spiral I'd not want to be involved in...I'd keep clear.

The reason why he didnt pay it was because during this time, he was sufferering domestic violence from his girlfriend, who had deliberately shut his fingers in car door and drove off with him hanging off the door and she also threw a knife at him so i expect his mind was on important things like how to avoid getting killed. He also has alot of things that have happened to him in the past in his childhood that are starting to rear their ugly head,so his mind is all over the place. I feel sorry for him because he could have stayed the victim and stayed on the sick like some do for life, but he decided to study hard and qualify as an electrician, and work and pay for his van. He's been honest all his life and that has got him abused and treated like dirt, his van is the only thing to help him make his living, if this goes, he won't be able to work, and i dont see him being able to get any help from the social.
What if we took ownership of the car and stored it in a lock up garage, or drove it out of london??And yes the lady in the avatar is me

As stated before, surely the bailiffs would just go after his other possessions if they cant get the van. Cant he just pay the fine now? Trying to dodge the bailiffs will only make it worse in the end.

Isn't it much easier for your friend just to pay the fine?
Or for you to pay it for him if he doesn't have the money?(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
you cant get away from bailiffs, its either pay up or hand over, as SS has already stated if they dont get the van, they will get his household goods.
achtunglady I dont understand why you are getting involved and wanting to go as far as taking the car and storing it in a lockup, or taking it out of london, all this for a £60 fine
