Great news all is ok with the little one Peonie, btw I have seen a 4d scan offered on groupon a few months ago, too late now for you but it might be worth checking in just incase every now and thenMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

It was very exciting Goldie, did I say I could not sleep properly the night before. NG, did you think the 4D scan was better?
We've been out looking a curtain fabric for the baby's room this morning. We've settled on what we want. I'm going to make them myself and I'm going to try and recover a chair cushion.
The baby has been a lot more active while I've been feeling more sick. I'm not sure if the two are related or if it's part of a cold/virus I have. I've been having some interesting dizzy, high temperature, feeling sick episodes. Thankfully they've all been when I was at home.
Later we're going to the Swedish store and Co£tco so this months budget will get blown.Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120

Hi peonie, I cant help with the 4d scan as I have not had one, it was echo delta.
I hope you are feeling better today and taking it nice and easy!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Oops sorry Echo and NG.
[STRIKE]So far today I've been feeling well. [/STRIKE]Nope, had another episode.
Well May's budget was well and truly blown. I just hope some of it is taken out of the bank during June and not May. We did buy some towels and have bought some goods in bulk. Fingers crossed it will save us money in the next few months. We did check the prices beforehand and they are cheaper than the shops.
But we also got more storage so we can sort out the house. Which is not easy while we are decorating and a lot of furniture is crammed into rooms. Did I mention we're going to get rid of some furniture?Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120

Everyone talking about foreign holidays is making me really jealous. Stomps feet. Mr P has always said he does not see the point in going abroad with a little one so it could be years until we see blue clear water again.
I've been resting most of the day but did make 2 out of the 3 meals and listed all of our cleaning chemicals so we won't buy more until the current ones are used. Put it this way, we don't need lime scale remover for another 10 years.
So, I'm going to go to the doctors tomorrow and if I can't get an appointment I'll phone the midwife.
Mr P went out with his friends, when I was dropping him off at the station he talked about how they were spending £15k on cars that would depreciate in value and how none of his friends have the financial security, of a rainy day fund and the pots of savings, like we do. It was a nice conversation to have and is nice that he appreciates all the planning and managing that I do. That the lack of nights out at the pub, holidays and nice things meant Mr P was able to leave his job and start his own business.Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120

Good idea to rest up - hope you get your doctors appointment tomorrow.
It's great that Mr P is appreciating all the financial work you have been doing - it makes it so much easier when both members of the partnership are on the same page, and not pulling in opposite directions. I reckon he'll change his mind about foreign holidays, after a few grotty British summers. It's a relatively short flight to somewhere like Spain and if you went in a May or September it'd be cooler for the little one and less expensive. Sounds like a plan to work on !Early retired - 18th December 2014

Thanks Goldie, I could only get a late appointment so I'm taking the day off work. I'm going to try and keep busy, I won't overdo it, as I seem to feel worse when I'm lazing around.
But, I can check the mortgage balance today. Yay. I really should not be this interested in seeing a debt with so many figures.
Right, I'll get a drink then start the washing.Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120

Hi Peonie,
My wife and i have that conversation about friends and colleagues, and it is funny how we almost seem to be gloating about not spending! The cars one is the worst, i dont get it whatsoever! There are people i work with who get a new car almost every year!Opening Mortgage balance as of 01.10.21 - £438,500.00 Current Mortgage balance as of 01.11.24 - £409,492.240 -
We had run our last 2 cars into the ground so I was a bit envious of other peoples newer cars but now we've traded them in and got a newer car that's gone. I'm still getting used to sharing a car and can't just organise a day out, now I have to say yes unless DH needs it for work. The savings make up for the inconvenience. I really could not be bothered searching for cars so frequently.
We're the only people I know that don't have Sky or Cable. I watch too much tv as it is so I'm glad I'm getting bored with what's on the TV and I'm turning it off.
I suppose our money spending vice is eating out. We eat out a couple of times a month. But that will be stopped very soon so we're trying to enjoy it while we can and I think we'll go somewhere special for an early birthday meal before mini me arrives. Several times last week we nearly ate out but in the end we were good, came home and cooked... Although we did have a chippy one night.
Yesterday I paid another £301 off the mortgage and then spent too long playing with my spreadsheet. Last month we knocked another month off the mortgage but not this time. The SOA is up to date as is my saving pots sheet. I've not saved as much in May as I would have liked but it's going in the right direction. I'll update my signature later.
Goldie, I definitely like the idea of Spain, Portugal or France in May or September. I'll have to start working on Mr P. I had hoped to have a sneaky holiday later this month. But from the way I'm feeling, BTW it's a virus, I would not want to book anything until I'm well.Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120

I'm definitely on par with a lot of your last post, eating out is my weakness. If we both get a weekend off together once or twice a month I struggle not to want to go out for lunch or dinner.
Totally agree with sky, I can't believe the price some people pay for it. With so many things you can watch on the catch up players now I'm surprised so many people can justify it. We have Freesat which is a bit more interesting than Freeview, which we get a terrible signal for!
Quite envious of your 1 car now also, it must save so much in running costs alone. :j0
