Online Estate Agents -would you recommend?

Im a first time buyer and looking in a desirable area. My experience is that when you reply to an advert posted on rightmove etc by an online agent then the buyer is more likely to receive a prompt reply than when it is posted by a high street agent. I don't think some sellers realise how slow some high street agents are to reply to queries sent by potential buyers. Ive had estate agents ringing me 3-4 weeks after i have emailed them. The only down side i know is that you will have to show the person around the property as in my experience the online agent is based nowhere near the property so cant show potential buyers around. The advantage of this is that as a buyer i am able to see properties on a Sunday afternoon if the vendor is in whereas most high street agents seem to prefer 9-5 for viewings which isnt good for a person working normal hours .0

depends on where you are and what EA you use , where we are , both viewing and selling , the EA`s we used were open 7 days and did viewings till 7pm mon-friNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

I have just come accross this thread and wanted to throw in my thoughts - it seems to rank as a high page and I hope this is useful for others.
I own a few properties, some we rent out, some we sell on. Whenever we rent out we use a company called https://www.makeurmove.co.uk - we find their interface very easy to use and have never had any problems.
Recently we've sold a couple of houses and, given our previous success with online agents we opted for one called https://www.newstreethomes.co.uk - they too were very good. One house sold in 5 days and the other is still on the market but we've had a few viewwings...
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend either service.Hating Hastings Direct!0 -

As a buyer, I've not had a great experience lately with housesimple. Slow to respond to emails, not being able to get through to the person you need to speak to, promise of phone calls which aren't returned.0 -
We used an online agent simply because we knew what we would realistically get for our house, as plenty sold in the are in the last 6 months or so. We knew they sold quickly too. We saved over £2000 using an online agent. When we got high street agents round they told us to put it at asking price 'x' which thought was a bit low. We ended up selling for more than that x.
We are in Scotland.
Agents were very good, called us to arrange viewings, we did our own viewings. Emailed us feedback the next day. Was the inbetween during negotiations.0 -
I have just sold my house through a local estate agent. They are only small and don't have a physical shop, they don't advertise in local papers but are on rightmove etc. Their local knowledge and extra help with house doctoring to get the pictures right was invaluable. They were a a couple of hundred more than the online only places, but a lot cheaper than the big chains.
From the otherside of doing viewings I've had a lot of help from the big chains trying to find me what I wanted. As well as calling me / mailing me details of places before they get on rightmove which helps a lot when something sells the day it goes online as they have prebooked viewings.
I had one viewing with Housenetwork and that nearly didn't happen. It took 5 phone calls 2 days before, and even then I was left not knowing until a couple of hours before if it would happen or not. If I saw something advertised with them again, I don't think I'd bother with all the hassel to view anything else with them.MFW OP's 2017 #101 £829.32/£5000
