Don't Panic!
There may be little information but what has happened basically amounts to a management buyout of Watford Electronics.
RedTen Internet is NOT part of the deal.
See http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/104044/mystery-surrounds-watford-electronics-buy-out.html for more info.
Therefore nothing should change for RedTen customers.0 -

I think there is more going on than everyone knows about so far. If you go to the Redten Internet Site, you see this message....................
Unfortunately, Redten Internet has run out of free PCs. In the interests of our customers, and to limit waiting times, the broadband with free PC offer has therefore been temporarily suspended.
This doesn't look good. Watford Electronics sold, people say this will not affect Redten, but now they've suspended their offer. I hope that somewhere in this buyout they have the money to pay for the next 3 years internet access for those that have already taken this offer. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Perhaps the buyout didn't include RedTen because it wasn't financially viable, so they don't want it....?0

I must say congratulations to those who chose to pay upfront on their credit cards, I assume that you will be covered if you don't get your service provided for the next 3 years???
I however chose to take the "dodgy" interest free loan to pay therefore I guess even if they don't provide the service I still owe V12Finance £700? Just wondering what people plan to do if it all goes pear shaped, I don't think I'll be paying back V12Finance as as far as I'm concerned Redten owe them the money if they pull out not me, and I'd be asking the question where has the money gone in such a short space of time?
I agree, it's a bit of a coincedence that they've run out of pcs and have to withdraw the offer at the same time as they've been bought out!
Not sure where they stand if they buy a company and just choose not to provide customers with what they've already been promised?0 -
Quote from http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/104190/redten-halts-free-pc-offer.html
"Earlier this week, the Redten spokesman claimed 'Redten Internet isn't going out of business.' Yet when PC Pro asked last October what would happen to customers in the event of Redten ceasing to trade, the same spokesman told us: 'The Redten Internet broadband and PC offer has been underwritten by Watford Electronics Ltd. In the event that Redten Communications Ltd ceases to trade, the provision of broadband will revert to Watford Electronics Ltd. In the event that Watford Electronics Ltd also ceases to trade within the duration of the three-year broadband contract, the customer can cancel their direct debit agreement and either return the PC, or pay the residual value of the PC.'
It now appears the Watford safety net has been removed."
That suggests to me that they earlier confirmed that if it all goes pete tong then you can simply return your pc and cancel the direct debit to V12Finance and then you're free! I bet V12Finance would say you still owed them money but I think I would be stubborn and tell them to take it back from Redten as they hadn't provided the service. Not sure how it would work if Redten had no money left? They would be bankrupt and have no money to give back to V12Finance. Maybe that's why the "new" company didn't buy redten, maybe that was the plan all along hence the "dodgy" loan!
Let's set up a compay to give away pcs to people but rather than them paying us direct, make them take out a loan so we get the money upfront, we spend that money with another of our companies and then let the internet company crash and burn meaning the new company we just set up has lots of their money, but they can't get it back as it's a completely seperate company, the company that they dealt with has no money left so can't pay them back and they still owe the money to our mates at the loan company!
Everyone's a winner!!!0 -

Still if Redten go bust you'll be able to buy yourself a replacement PC from this new IT company that will be setting up very soon:

The 48 hours have come and gone and no sign yet of the information on support from Globally for the existing Watford customers. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -

Nothing SHOULD change, but my Redten email service stopped working this morning. No emails have came through since then. Any other Redten customers noticed this?THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT0 -
Sorry Folks,
Looks like I got the wrong end of the stick previously.
Hopefully things will get back on track, but if not, I'm sure there will be an amicable resolution for customers posted here in the forums.0
