TBH, if it wasn't for the opportunities I felt that (originally) supporting his decisions would have given the children, and all the work we went through to make that possible, I would let it go. It'a a hypothetical £50 000 that they're never likely to see. Now I feel it's not my decision to do that, because it's the children's money, and I'm fighting on their behalf. But it's a sair fecht as they say.
Although me and hubby (who has "taken on" the children as his own) have been able to meet most of the children's needs, there have been times when I feel that it would have been a lot easier if we'd had some child maintenance as a boost, ie DD1 going to uni, DS1 and DD2 going to theatre school for several weeks. Plus a lot of the debt I've had to clear has been because he put me as a guarantor on his loans nonsense, and then defaulted/moved house etc. But that's all done and dusted now thank goodness! I suppose I ought to be grateful that he is not here, interfering all the time. He tried that at the start and got short shrift. Then called me a bad parent because I wouldn't drive 300 miles south so "he could see his children" .
Thanks for that.. that is what I shall keep in mind when I take KH to the cleaners when he gets a job..
And it is his responsibility to collect and return the children not yours to deliver.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Morning all
Kids decluttered to school, DW filled, lounge straightened. Kitchen is still a WIP as I got sidetracked by finance sorting yesterday (which is just about done).
Nipped out with my friend yesterday and got cards for both SW's birthdays plus a couple of small presents.
Just about to go to help Dad put some stuff on freecycle and give an ebay lesson :rotfl:
Huge hugs to you and your family HelenOfficial Mascot and Chief Cheerleader for the 'Mortgage Free in Three' Gang0 -
In my HHC I:
Unloaded the DW
Wiped the surfaces and emptied the bin
Set the WM and DW off on a cleaning cycle
Tidied the living room and dusted.
Not much I know but at least it’s a start and the place is looking better already.

I was out the front this morning scrubbing graffiti off the garage door
Anyways, chap walks up with clipboard and papers, "come to read your water meter". "Haven't got one". "Yes you have".
So before this decends into a panto, it turns out that YESTERDAY they fitted a water meter.
No notice, no do you want one,(and I thought you had a choice in an older property), now with 2 disabled adults in the house I know we use more water than your average 3 bed terraced.

if you own the property you should of been consulted, call water company.
from web site :
http://www.ccwater.org.uk/server.php?show=ConWebDoc.1618
Customers are also entitled to have a water meter installed for free. This
means that from then on charges are based on the amount of water used, instead of the rateable value of a home. Those who choose to make the switch have the right to go back to their original method of charging within 12 months if they are unhappy or don’t seem to be saving money by making the switch.
Where meters can’t be installed because of shared pipes or other difficulties, customers have the right to an alternative charge which will more closely reflect their actual water use.
Customers are responsible for the water supply pipes in their gardens and homes, but if a leak is found on the property which causes a higher bill than normal, customers with a water meter have the right to a leakage allowance, meaning that the water company will not charge for the water lost through the leak.1. i'm bi polar.:rotfl:2. carer for two autistic sons.:A 3. have a wonderful but challenging teenage daughter. 4. have a husband that is insatiable. 5. trying to do an open degree.0 -
Morning all
Having done the daily lists for 18 months or so, I shall just have to admit defeat for the next few weeks. The builders are in
Our entire ground floor has had to be decluttered to the upstairs so they can move everything around - floors, walls, ceilings, electrics, new kitchen the lot... Right now the water is off so I couldn't do much flying even if I wanted to. The house is freezing and getting filthier by the minute - they do clear up each day, but it is still a building site downstairs and upstairs is just hysterical due to the amount of stuff and that we are trying to continue access to certain things so that normal (!) life can continue.
One good thing is that I am able to sit upstairs and get on with the paperwork, and all that stuff.
have a fun day :j0 -
