Hi All,
I only got engaged a couple of days ago but we thinking of getting married next August too. I cant believe that I need to start thinking about it now. I know nothing about weddings but feel slightly daunted that I might need to look at venues already. I was hoping Id have a good 6 months to chill out first!! x0 -
My Partner & I are having ours on 4th Augh 2012....
Can us two boys join in? x0 -
Thank you for the flower rec, I will look into them
Ours will have lots of diy bits and pieces as well, I'm planning on doing the cake (though am v scared of working out how to stack it with pillars ) and probably the invites and other stationery as well. I think the advantage of planning so far ahead is that it gives us longer to get the diy bits well organised!
Ooh dark blue and pink sounds lovelyI'm not sure about dark blue and red, just not sure if there's enough of a contrast between the colours iykwim- too different to blend together but too samey to contrast.... I need to have a proper think about it. BF has said he is happy to go with whatever I want but it is so hard trying to decide. Blue with yellow is another possibility but not sure if that would be too contrasting. Plus yellow is not the most of flattering of colours for a bridesmaids dress!

Your plans sound lovely! We are going for a small village church too, then reception round the corner in the village hall - it'll be a very DIY wedding so I have tons to make and do, which I don't mind but is a bit daunting!
Yep, definitely decide on a colour scheme - it makes life much easier! We're having navy blue too, but with blush pink (with the pink mostly through the flowers) to make it a bit more summery! No reason why you can't have blue and red, I think that would look lovely together! You could even have a Great Britain/retro theme, if you know what I mean?
BTW, if you want a rec for flowers, try Green and Gorgeous near Wallingford - we were very impressed with them and have booked them this week!0 -
Wow another 25th August wedding, welcome to the thread BLUis, it definitely is going to be a popular date. That sounds great timing with your venue, very lucky to get first dibs on the datesI'm lucky, my venue has only just been licenced again to do weddings so I pretty much had first dibs on dates!!Another 25 August here too! Booked registrar, venue, got food sorted but thats about it.
Congrats to everyone here and roll on next year!!
Congrats on your engagement PootleFlump :j
I think a lot of us are just eager beavers, there is probably no urgency to look at venues straight away. It depends how flexible you are on the date and the venue really- if there is a specific date you really want (especially if it's 25th August as this seems to be a popular date!), or a certain venue you've got your heart set on, then the sooner the better really, but if you are not fussed then there's no rushPootleFlump wrote: »Hi All,

I have added a little list to the first post of everyone's forum names and their wedding dates- do let me know if I've made any mistakes! There's already 6 of us on 25th August, maybe we should take bets on how many MSE weddings there will be on that date in total!
Have spoken to a lovely florist who has given me so many ideas for colours and styles that will work well in our venue, sooo excited! :j0 -
:rotfl:Hi, we are also getting married on the 25th Aug next year, seems to be a popular date. getting nervous and excited already!0

Hello all!
I was in the July gang but now looking more likely I'm in the August gang! OH is in the forces so it's changing quite often! But hopefully now we're almost set on the 18th or 25th! My only worry is extra costs because of BH, but we'll wait and see!
Have done no organising other than to decide that my neighbour will make cupcakes for the wedding cake, she does an amazing job, and decide the church and 2poss venues!
Can't believe others are so far ahead, but then to be fair if the goalposts didnt keep moving maybe I would be too!!!
look forward to organising/ panicking along with you all!0 -
Hi lil livzy,
Welcome to the threadI can imagine it must be very hard trying to plan things when the date keeps being moved. Fingers crossed the date gets sorted soon
Your neighbour sounds fab, how lovely of her to make your cupcakes. I haven't got much organised myself, I am very indecisive and finding it really hard to choose anything!
My current dilemma is with the photographer. I have found one who takes the most amazing photos but is way over our budget. There is another photographer who is much cheaper and who's photos were ok, and a third who's photos I am not overly keen on but is very very cheap. The difference in price is about £1400, so I'm really struggling to decide what to do for the best. It is a huge amount of money, and we have already gone over budget on the venue so have cut back elsewhere.
It is hard as the photos are something I want to be able to look back on in years to come, and I want them to be special. But at the same time, I'm not sure I can justify spending so much money on one when there are adequate alternatives for so much less. Argh it is so hard!Hello all!
