I wanna do some too now :-)
What could one put in the boxes other than sweets for little kids?, but that might be a slightly healthier option. Not sure if BIL and SIL would appreciate me giving their kids a box full of sweets.
If you want to stay edible, then how about coated raisins/nuts/fruit? Holland and Barrett do yogurt coated raisins in flavoured yogurt, so the coatings are different colours. They also do yogurt and chocolate coated raisins and peanuts, yogurt coated pineapple etc. Intersperse it with some healthier sweets (natural smarties/gummi bears etc - also in health shops) and I can't see complaints from either generation - although I'm sure at christmas the parents will make some allowances for sweets and chocolate.
For inedible, how about craft bits (sequins, beads, gummed shapes) - all small kids like them.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
Just thought I would let you know these ones on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-12-COMPARTMENT-ORGANISER-STORAGE-BOX-FOR-CRAFTS_W0QQitemZ250169316322QQihZ015QQcategoryZ75576QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
are the ones in tesco that you can get for 97p - the ones I found were on an end aisle (as I said near to the paint/car stuff) - the print on the top of the box is a sticker that comes off easily....
Thank you Orchid, I'll take a look in Tesco.
Anyone else got any ideas for decorating or wrapping them? The stickers are a good idea, thanks.

Sorry wasn't very clear.... Similar to the idea above - can be done for any sweeties.
Stick a long skewer in each of them and put into some polystyrene, and make a kind of bouquet with it like the popcorn bucket bouquet below......
EDIT: would like to say heres one I made earlier, but sadly not....it was just googled!!!
that looks fantastic!! should be pretty easy to do if i can get my hands on a decent amount of ribbon, picking up the drumsticks on tuesday so ill have a look how many there are and go from there:TYes Your Dukeiness0 -
Hobbycraft do the boxes for £2.49 each they have 18 compartments, plenty of room of lots for nice sweeties! I've bought some for pressies. They also have different sizes both larger and really small too.0

I went into Value save yesterday ( I don't have a poundland, wilkinsons etc locally) and they had some great sweets at bargain prices - so I have now got a fair amount for my sweetie boxes - I got a multi pack which has various bits in including love hearts/parmal violets/drumsticks, flying saucers x 2, a pack of around 6 of the mini maoms, a pack of the coconut mushroom thingys, a packet of the candy neclaces and some foam fruits all for around £3.50 - I just need to get some fruit salads/blackjacks and some mints for my dad/oh now I think..Jun GC £250.00/£12.40 NSD 3 / 30
