I hadn't thought about getting OH a gift for the wedding day, am I bad?
Well, I was thinking of handmaking an 'anniversary book' for us like the one nickki had in the other thread, but that's all.
Don't feel bad . . . i hadn't thought about it either. H2B decided to tell me over Christmas that the next present i'll be getting from him is my wedding day gift. was my reaction. I hadn't even thought of buying him anything, he gets me as a wife, what more could he want for!! :rotfl: so i did a bit of research and found the card and ordered straight away and now i have to think of a gift . . . another job to the list0 -

Hi Everyone, just found your forum and as I getting married on a shoestring (seriously, I may have to use shoestrings) I thought I might join you
We decided on Boxing day to get married on our 10th Anniversary which will be July this year. My lovely MIL to be has gifted us 2 thousand pounds which will pay for the big things I think but weddings are just SO expensive!!!! I mean I had heard of the wedding tax before but I don't think I quite prepared myself for the price rises when you mention the W word..
Ok so I have found a venue nr us which has a license, we can have it from the day before at 6pm until midnightish on our wedding day - ceremony booked for 3:30pm. My brother has a friend with a swish jaguar and I have offered him £60 to ferry me and fiance (seperately obviously, lol)
After the ceremony we go out for bucks fizz/glass bottle of coca cola and little bags of popcorn (instead of canapes) and photos (£200 quote from a girl just starting out and we have 3 keen photographer guests)
Neither of us are very formal and there will be about 10 children there so we have decided to go for a hog roast instead of "proper" wedding breakfast. I have been quoted £350 to include the hog (120 portions - we have 60 guests), stuffing, apple sauce, 120 rolls and napkins and a chef to carve and serve buffet style. I figured I would do some big fruit bowl size bowls of salad and put them in the venue fridge the day before. Thinking of making the dinner for about 5:30?
In the evening I thought I might put out just crisps and nuts and/or cheese and biscuits (and grapes) - we have about 20 more coming for the evening
so thats what I have so far.. still LOADS left to do, I am having trouble getting to sleep because ideas keep popping up!! :rotfl:Can anyone see anything obvious I am missing so far?!?! any tips on how to keep the budget down would be appreciated!!0 -
Ooooh, such bargains!!!
What are you missing, um... A DRESS!!!!!!!!And are you having BMs/groomsmen? Will your OH need to hire/buy a new suit? Some grooms buy one if they work in an office-based job where they need to wear a suit anyway, so it saves money in the long run.
Are you allowed to supply your own booze?
What about flowers?7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

Cor you lot have been busy!!
Okay I'm multi-quoting this but I can't tick enough boxes to get everything so I will have to come back in a tick for the rest lol.
Well my news - the Rainbow Club shoes have arrived today. Mmm mixed thoughts - they are lovely shoes - really lovely - but I don't know if they are wow enough. I'm still loving my Miss KG shoes - and I do keep coming back to them and melting. But whether they will go is another thing (hurry up bloody dress!!!) The RC shoes are too small (I ordered half a size smaller than I would normally order on the grounds that they are court shoes which tend to slip slop all over the place), so they need returning anyway. I have emailed my bridal shop to see if I can pop in on Saturday to hold the shoes up to the dress to see if it's the right colour. Then I can return them. If they are the right colour I may reorder them in the right size when I have a dress fitting date booked. If they are the wrong colour I will wait to see if my miss KG shoes go - and if they don't I will order them from a site that bleaches RC shoes when you buy them. (This whilst it's a faff is actually saving me around £20 off a 'try before you dye' site).
My other news is my long running tights have arrived today - now just need to go out running in them (waiting for MrD to come home).FutureCooper wrote: »I have added this link http://www.etsy.com/transaction/67181794 to a beautiful card i have ordered and received from Etsy. I am planning on having it delivered to H2B on the morning with his gift. (I am yet to decide on a gift, what are you doing?) I had it made in white outer with Purple inlay to match our colours.julybride81 wrote: »Hi Everyone, May I join you please? We have set the date for 31st JulyOr we could call you JB lol. Cor you've got a lot organised so far!! Wow! We're not into formalities either
And I *think* Emma (Pinkprincess) is having a hog roast as well but don't quote me on that!
Ha what is it with Grapes with cheese and biscuits? Lol it always makes me giggle - I don't eat 'raw' cheese so I haven't ever understood that lol.
I will add you to the updated list linked from post 1 as soon as I've finished posting.

Okay part 1 done - let me go back and get part 20 -

I'm getting married 21st July in Southampton, and so far have church, venue, dress, car, I've picked the bridesmaids dresses and just need to buy them, and I'm meeting the cake lady this weekend.
The new year has definitely panicked me into start planning!
You most certainly canOoo any piccies to share with us? Lol we are big fans of photos on this thread!!
:T I will add you to the updated list as well as soon as I've finished writing this.
Well done you on going jogging, you should be really proud! I am thinking of signing up for a 5K, will see how the bootcamp goes.
I'll have a listen to your two chosen pieces of music in a minute - I am a big fan of the piano. I'd like some music from a guy called Stanton Lanier, but most of his pieces have been composed from religious inspiration and I don't know strict our registry office is going to be with non-religious content. Plus I haven't run it past MrD yet - lol suppose he should get a say.FutureCooper wrote: »Thank you for the kind offer Natalie of joining you on the Lincoln 10k run. Maybe next year, hey!!
And how exciting having your very own countdown!!I was sat looking in my diary today - on Tuesday it will be exactly 6 months till our wedding :T Cannot wait for Tuesday - lol those of you on my FB - you will have to watch out for a profile picture change!!
