I'm having two BM, My sister will be my MOH(as im hers in Dec) and my best friend. Isnt much age gap between them so they will be wearing the same.
ooo i will go look on BHS. Thanks:D
I did our budget yesterday:eek::eek:! We are looking at spending between 6-7K!!0 -
Oooh Laura, is that inc your honeymoon? I really need to do a spreadsheet or summat lol. Ive got a big plastic box at min, which is over-flowing with magazines, books and bits n pieces lol. Pink princess, Ive got the cancer research pin badges, where you make a donation. My grandma died from it, and OH's mum had it 2 years ago so thought would be a nice touch. Im having a sweetie table too!!! Its a DIY job though, collecting jars and things at the min, Tesco and Asda have some really cheap ones!! Couldn't justify spending £200 on some jars and sweets. I live in Blackpool, and we have a sweet factory that sells to the public so will be a lot cheaper!! I finally read through all your comments before I found this thread lol. My themes pink as well!!! Although you could prob have guessed that was my fave colour from my name lol?!!!!
Laura, I wish I knew a photographer!! Im so scared of getting !!!! pics or them not turning up etc. Its so hard!! Have you 2 got wedding ins yet? I really should get it soon. Oooh got a letter yesterday to go for my 1st dress fitting!!!! So excited to wear it again!!0 -
I have a spreadsheet with my expected spends on- so ive given everyting a cost and just hope that things come within these amounts (or less), so I had budgeted £50 for my flowergirl dress but that was only £20 so hopefully there will be more things like this!!
For the sweetie buffet Im planning on going to ikea and getting their glass jars that are about £1 each and then going to the local cash and carry and getting tubs of sweets and maybe just decorating the jars with some matching pink ribbon- reckon it will come in fairly cheap. Oh and white and pink stripey bags from ebay!
What kind of pink are you having (I guess the same here with my name- wouldnt be right to have any other colour!!!):)
Oh LauraLou thats exciting about your photographer- bet its a good feeling to have one of the big things sorted.
Oh littlemisspink-bet you cant wait, when is it?0 -
I think am having baby pink lol, as OH not too keen on fuschia
I'm sure I'll sneak some in there though haha!! What colour pink are you going for? Think I read above its fuschia?? Love it
I've got to call them to arrange a day/time. It was closed when got home to the letter yest or would have phoned straight away lol. Gotta take my camera this time, in all the excitement forgot to take a pic last time lol!!
Ah love it when you budget for something and it comes in under!! I went £70 over on my dress, tiara and veil so not too bad, and been looking at flowers this afternoon and have found a few sites that actually do them cheaper than what I thought so that should make up the £70 overspend!! Are you paying for yours yourselves? We're quite lucky in that OH's parents are paying for reception. Didn't know when booked it though!! Got a Britannia Hotel deal, £1495 for sit down meal for 50, evening buffet for 100, plus other lil bits n piecesIts ridiculous how expensive everything is when you put wedding in front of it!!!

Oh baby pink will be lovely, Im having fushia, or a hot pink, depends what is about when I shop for bridesmaid dresses, my oh was fine about it, we have compromised that he can wear whatever he wants as long as he has a pink button hole!!
Oh thats good about maybe being under budget on flowers, we are having artifical as my mil2b works in a place that sells them and they are lovely so she is doing them for us.:)
Yep, we are paying for it ourselves. The Britannia deal is so good- unfortunately there isnt one near us. We arent quite sure what we are doing for food yet, I need to start getting some quotes, may get some for a buffet, hog roast, bbq and then see what the budget allows- we are lucky in that where we are having our reception either have caterers who are reasonably priced (and do nice food) or they allow you to do your own food.
Oh I know, things like cars, hairdresser, make up, catering etc go up a lot as soon as you say its for a wedding.0 -
Hello all - there appears to be a decidedly pink theme on here!
I am a very unpink lady who will be getting married on the 21st aswell, in Leicestershire - must be a really popular date, aren't we all so original! I didn't really have much choice as I'm a teacher so needed it to be in the summer holiday, but I can see it now everywhere will be cranking up the prices!
I've not done anything about anything yet apart from getting the church sorted, it's my nan and grandads church so I know it would mean a lot to them to have it there! I think a lot of my wedding will be about making other people happy because personally as long as I get married and have a few beers I'll be happy enough!
I have to pretend to be excited though or Bloke accuses me of being mardy hahaha! No doubt having said that I'll be on here at some point moaning that things aren't going how I want them. I'm such a control freak!:rotfl:
Anyway thought I would pop in and say hi!
xxThs signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it...0 -
Welcome Silaqui:D
Your church sounds lovely. Im sure when its nearer the time you start to feel excited!
Im a pre-school teacher so we wanted it for when the summer holidays were as well
Ive been trying to convince OH to come to the wedding farye with me. Ive even offered food after!!:rotfl:
We are quite lucky that my dad is paying for the venue. Mum is paying for my dress and OH mum will be making the cake and paying for OH and best man suit.
Littlemisspink :jfor the fitting. Let us know the date! And if we ask very very nicely would be able to get pic:).
I cant wait to try on more dresses. I still in love with one dress.0 -
Hi. I'm getting married on 28th July 2012 too in Mansfield.
So far I have my dress, shoes, OH shoes, church, venue, invitations, bubbles and favour boxes.
I am going to make my own bouquet and my bridesmaids bouquets to cut costs.0 -
Welcome SSAllen, Im the 28th July 2012 aswell!!
Wow, you sound really organised. I only have the ceremony and reception booked and have got my flower girl dress, thats it so far!
Oh I am quite excited, I have booked a dress appointment for Saturday as I saw that Berketex have a 2 day sale so thought I would go there and see what they have!!:j0 -
Hi guys
You can add me to your list! We're getting married on Tuesday 17th July 2012...
Bit of background: We met 17th July 1999, live together (joint mortgage) and have a little house bunny so we're already a family. Chosen the date, cause obviously it's the date we met, and we decided on 2012 cause then it gives us enough time to finish renovating the house... well that is the plan.
In terms of the wedding itself. The plan is to have a very relaxed affair - low key and as little money as possible. The ceremony itself is on a week day (as I've already said a Tuesday) and will be immediate family only. Then the following Saturday we will host a house party where the wider circle of friends and family can come and join us to celebrate.
Other than booking the registry office we haven't organised anything. I have been tinkering with some invite designs. (Nicking ideas off google images). And I have been googling wedding dresses. I have seen a lovely Alfred Angelo one (I'm after a strapless dress, with structure around my tummy - I've lost 3st 12lbs so I definitely want to show it off - and it to be around knee length), but unfortuantely it is only available in the USA. I have emailed 3 local stockists, one of which has replied. My mum has said she would love to come dress hunting with me (which I was surprised about). I'm trying to get some sort of time table written about when I should be organising things. (I'm a school teacher - so really the only time I will have to breathe/plan will be the school holidays - of which there are only 9 left between now and then!) We got engaged during February half term 2010 and I can't believe how quick the last year has gone and I'm starting to freak out that the next 18 months are going to fly by!
Oh the other thing we have decided upon is the honeymoon. During October half term this year we're going to learn how to scuba dive, so then we can have a week diving somewhere exotic for our honeymoon. So that is another thing to organise! (Learn to dive, wedding, party, honeymoon, lol glutton for punishment?)
Anyway I'm waffling.
I look forward to sharing the count down with you guys.
**edit**
Re: being a teacher lol. Just incase some of you are wondering why on earth our date is during term time. I work for a support service rather than being directly employed by a school and my head of service has agreed I can have the day off unpaid. I know... I know... I am super lucky to have her!
Oh I forgot to say where I am!! - Lincolnshire0
