I think that sounds like a brilliant idea!!
Love the idea of the outline of the isle! I'm sat here thinking but I'm wondering if as your favours (if you're having them) you could give some isle of wight sand - can't remember where it is - all I can remember is it's famous - and as kids we all filled up some plastic moulds with different coloured layered sand
Well I'm back from town. I don't know if it was me being nervous or him being very good at putting me at ease but I seemed to rabbit on at him!! Anyway - I've come back with a photographer booked! Hurrah!! He was actually really nice - and I agree with MrD he would very easily blend into the background during the ceremony - which is the main thing. Well I've gone from not wanting a photographer or any posed photos to wanting a photo of Louth's church (the tallest medieval parish church spire in England, 295 feet) in the background. Not because I'm religious but because it's an iconic building of Louth(In the same way that if I was marrying in Lincoln, my home city, I would want a photo of us with Lincoln Cathedral in the background). Ha! I make myself giggle. Plus I know MrD's mum (and my mum to a lesser extent) will be really happy with the decision to have some formal photos of us all... now they really must wear silly hats.
Oh and I have also had a few spritz in Boots. I am undecided between Jean Paul and Armani Code. Lol proper grown up perfumes. I've got JP on at the moment and I must admit it smells fab!! I will let MrD smell them all when he gets in (that will test there staying power) and see what he thinks.0 -
The sandshapes could be a good idea, would mean another trip down to the island
. I think there will be some sort of IW theme going through the invitations and placecards now
The venue are going to get me some contact numbers for photographers, thinking I may go with someone based on IW as the cost will be a little lower than having to pay someone to come across from the mainland. We're also thinking of having a band or some sort of entertainment as I don't perceive us going on any longer than 9/10pm.
Should really be getting everything prepared for the new intake, but the programme director is starting to annoy me by micro-managing me (and he's not even my manager), but heyho, it's his programme....0 -
I think having the Island as the theme for your stationery is a brilliant idea
lol but then I'm a little bit OCDy and I like uniformity! (Incase you hadn't noticed ha!).
I think the idea of going with a local photographer is a really good idea - lol hark listen to me - Mrs-I-Know-everything-there-is-to-know-about-picking-a-photographer-just-cause-I've-booked-ours! ha!! Seriously though they will know the location, know what sort of shots they've taken before which have come out well. One question I asked of our photographer was whether he'd done many ceremonies at the registry office. And he was able to say how he could get Louth's church spire in the background of a shot for me. Where as if I'd used someone not local to the venue they wouldn't have that knowledge - if that makes sense. (Lol just happens to be that he's local to us as well).
(I'm sat here and I keep getting whiffs of the JP perfume and it smells really nice!! I hope MrD likes it!! And I hope it's a bargain when we go through duty free in October!).0 -
You guys are scaring me with your organisational skills again . . . . having looked at the 'lists' that have been posted i better get pen to paper. My friends and colleagues always take the mickey out of me for my organisational skills (have to be red hot in my job at school) but i feel i have more than met my match!
Ordered buttons off ebay lasy night, job lot of cream/vintage being posted out today. My florist wire has arrived so i can't wait to get home and make a start. Printed loads of lovely pics off google of how i'd like it to look:

^ i am hoping that has included a picture of the bouquet i am hoping to achieve!!!
Looking forward to hearing about LauraR's dress fitting.
MrsDrink bigto getting the photographer booked. Thats a job on the 'To Do List' i haven't even started looking. I, like you, wasn't going for any formal shots but have decided a few might be nice. Saw my friends wedding photos again over the weekend on facebook and she looked amazing in her pics so i'm thinking of a professional photographer with outstanding airbrushing skills etc. So if Slimming World does get rid of the double chin the photographer can!!

Mmm not sure why it didn't embed for you Melanie!0 -
Fab that you've ordered loads of buttons off ebay. Did you see FlyDragonFly's pictures? (here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3436923) She used red and white/cream buttons for her bouquets - think they looked fab! I love the shells and bits in the one you linked to
Lol I'm sat here thinking oooo LauraR will be on her way to her bridal shop - it is so lovely that we all get super excited about each others things
I am really pleased that we've got the photographer bookedMrD has just popped home and I've sent him back out with a cheque in his pocket to pay the deposit. Although the sod lol has chosen the wrong perfume haa!! He liked the Armarni one better than the JP one. So when I go to Nottingham on Friday I'll have a proper spritz of that and see if I like it on rather than on the bit of paper. They are very similar smells to be honest but I think the Armani one is a stronger more powerful smell.

Gorgeous pics . . thanks for that link. I haven't ventured anywhere else on this site other than this forum and a SW diet forum. Not sure why my pic didn't work though. ho hum.
I am going to put a few brooches into the one i plan to make. Also found a huge pearl bead necklace in the sale on saturday from TieRack (70% off) so i brought it and intend to dismantle it and use the beads!
I am under instructions from H2B to wear Daisy by Marc Jacobs on the day as that was what i was wearing when we met and he loves it. Going to go the whole hog i think as a treat for him and buy the body lotion to bathe in on the day as well.0 -
Fabby about the bargain necklace - and that is a great idea - breaking it and using the beads!
I am very impressed by you lot who can remember the smells you were wearing when you met your OHs!! I don't even know if at 19 I had 'found' perfume - I'm not sure I was wearing anything other than my deoderant which has changed numerous times between then and now. MrD on the other hand has only had the one change of smell since we metLol but that's mainly because I buy him it and it smells so fab on him I don't want to change it again! I did tell the young lad at boots that I wanted a 'grown ups' perfume - ha!

LauraR hope all goes well with the dress:)
Michelle lovely to hear that the venue was gorgeous.
Mel love the bouquest, i think its look wonderful:)
Natalie:jfor liking the photographer and booking him.
I gave notice this morning:jhad a much nicer lady then OH did!
And i've been to the 99pstore and got two disney colouring books and pencils for the two girls coming to the wedding. Think i will also steal emma's idea about getting them to take photos!0 -
Great that you've given notice! It's great that we're all doing these milestones at roughly the same time as each other
Ha that your OH had the less nice lady!! (When MrD and I went we had the same woman - she did a brief chat to us both - took our ID etc, then spoke to us individually, then brought us back together to talk through the ceremony).
Good bargain on getting some Disney colouring in books.0
