OK, so I won an item, value less than a tenner. The guy lives a few streets away from me so I asked if and when I could collect... We agareed on a time but he said I'd have to pay the £4.99 postage price as the item sold for less than he was hoping for and to quote "he starts his items at 99p and makes his money from the postage..."
I said that I dont want to pay P&P if i'm collecting the item and asked for an ammended invoice...
He now wants me to pay in full and have the item posted out to me.
How annoying!
I can feel a neutral coming on lol...

Did he offer free collection? If so, neg, if not, then it's fair enough. (I don't include the fee avoidance aspect in that)I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!0

Did it say collection was permitted or did you ask if it would be ok to collect before you won the item? or did you presume? as he doesnt have to offer collection if it wasnt stated on the auction. but even so as he's kinda admitting fee avoidance would Ebay be interested?0

i can see you paying in full and him delivering it personally
i used to offer collections.. but only when it suited me not the buyer..Sealed pot challenger # 10

I just asked after the auction eded if I could nip to collect it. I didint know he lived so close to me as his location just said "Cheshire".0

As you contacted him AFTER the auction about collecting, then I think he's quite within his rights to ask you to pay for the postage, so a neutral would be out of order.
If you'd contacted him BEFORE bidding, and agreed to free collection, then that would have been fair enough.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
IF free collection was listed then fair enough, Most sellers don't offer this for a range of reasons - I personally stopped offering it after someone collected an item and helped themselves to some 'free' items from my house . The problem is most people think if an item is nearby then collection is fine - My opinion is always to assume it's not available unless made very clear! Re the feedback - whats the guy done wrong? You bought the item knowing the postal cost, the fact he lives nearby has made you think you can save a few quid - not his problem!0

He said that he is going to have to charge me postage even if I collect as the final sale price was lower than he was hoping, plus he admited he started his items at 99p so there is no insertion fee...0 -
but you bid on it expecting to pay £4.99 postage costs. If you only asked about collection after close of auction, you can't really complain about being expected to pay postage and having it posted out to you, can you? Fee avoidance is something you might want to refer to ebay, if he has sent you an email stating what you have reported here.Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0

He was happy for me to colect the item, but wanted me to pay the P&P price as, to quote "the item didnt make enough money and I make my money on postage..."0 -
By bidding, surely you showed that you were happy with the item cost and the p&p cost. Just pay it and wait for the item to arrive in the post.0
