  • hi can anyone tell me where is a good action packed site to go to. We live in glasgow and are willign to travel by car for about 5 hours. We were looking at southport pontins and butlins skegness but after reading reviews we are not too sure now!

We usually go to craig tara or haggerston castle. We went to Nairn Lochloy last June and loved it. We want to go to the lake district or somewhere different this time,

any suggestions will be appreciated. We have a 5 and 14 year old,

    Sharon :)

Hi, From my experience most parks are fine, certainly Skegness was last year. I've yet to find a park on review websites that achieve consitent high marks.

I'm originally from Glasgow & have been to Craig Tara severals times, last time 4 years ago. Everyone i've been to down south has been a lot better than that.

Thanks, what is the accommodation like at skegness, that's what is putting me off, the reviews on that! Which ones have you been to down south, any you would recommend?? What was Skegness like? Was it Butlins you went to, is there loads to do at it?

Also, have you been to southport at all? if so which one out of southport or skegness would you recommend?
    thanks

Hi! Basic accomodation at skegness is definately not the ritz but not much different from standard accodation (chalets) at craig tara or other caravan sites I've been too, Pontins at Southport wasn't the best but that was some years ago that i went! Would recommend most haven sites but especially these:
    - Haven Primrose Valley nr Filey, Scarborough...reasonable amount to do on site, v.close to Scarborough/Whitby/nth york moors for checking out the area
    - Haven Presthaven, nth wales...one of havens biggest parks...loads to do, spent a week there last summer and family loved it
    - Butlins Skegness...loads to do on site, big swimming pool, loads of shows...two seperate show bars with different acts/shows most nights, skyline has another stage for more entertainment..particular favorite was the skyline gang and their own little shows! Ok the std accom isn't the best but for what u pay on the sun deal it did us & at the end of the day its primarily where u sleep rather than spending all the day in! Think its possible to upgrade to their silver/gold accom once you've bkd through the sun!
    Hope it helps!

I can't see it either now! Maybe it has been removed. It had no more info than this one.
