Budget hotel in New York
Comments
-
Thanks everyone for your comments, and bcl, thanks for the welcome.
The budget is about $100 per night or a bit more.
Bids up to $100 on priceline weren't accepted. Could you recommend an area and hotel class to choose on priceline which is likely to give a decent hotel.
Or, could you recommend some nice B&B, guest house or hostels in this price range.
Have you thought about looking further out of town? If you are prepared to take the train in and out of Manhattan then hotels are much cheaper in Brooklyn or Queens.0 -
I'll give another vote for The Pod. Stayed there in November with my brother and it fit the bill for us - a clean bed, a clean shower and a clean bog. In a city like NY, you don't need anything else.
The rooms are small and minimalist but they are very well designed to give you everything that you need in the space. For what we paid, you could get a hell of a lot worse in Manhattan. The location, smack in the middle of Mid Town, was bang on as well.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Yep. When you are in New York, unless you are on honeymoon then you aren't going to be spending much time in your room.0 -
I have just spent 3 nights in hotel 3030 round the corner from empire state building. Was about £100/night that was for 2 adults room only. I would definately use again0

We stayed out in New Jersey in December -transfer into Manhattan was 20 minutes and buses ran from far earlier than we ever needed until 1 am -cost was $8 return and the bus stop was literally outside the hotel. You'd be paying for the hotel's facilities rather than the location.
I've done the stay in the city thing in Manhattan too and I honestly didn't feel we missed out this time by staying across the river -and in some ways it was quite nice to be staying outside the seething mass of humanity and just visit

MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
For me, the "seething mass" is what NYC is all about! We stayed out in New Jersey in December -transfer into Manhattan was 20 minutes and buses ran from far earlier than we ever needed until 1 am -cost was $8 return and the bus stop was literally outside the hotel. You'd be paying for the hotel's facilities rather than the location.

I stayed in the 3030 with my daughter about 4/5 years ago. Nice hotel,, but would recommend that you ask for a room at the back, away from the main road!! Had real trouble sleeping due to the noise as we were above on the road side! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Stayed in the Cosmopolitan last year. Good sized room, bathroom a tad small. Had Subway Station outside the door so very easy to get to times square etc.0

I had friends visit me and they stayed at
Marmara - Manhattan on the Upper East Side, 94th street. It was pretty reasonable and had great views.
If they're looking for something on the Westside then I would suggest The Excelsior Hotel NYC. If you check early enough, you could get a really good deal. Plus it's right next to Central Park and the metro.0
