Car licencing, tax and MOT -advice needed

OP - do you have any part of the logbook/registration certificate/V5C (these are the same thing!)?
- If you have one in your name then you should be able to tax at PO.
- If you have the green new keeper's supplement - blank or in your name - then again you should be able to tax at PO - if it is within 2 months of purchase
Or do you not have the logbook at this is why you need to go to DVLA office?* Rainbow baby boy born 9th August 2016 *

Hi there, I'm a she by the way LOL
Thanks for all the input................Ive just checked on freecarcheck.org and it does say "licence due to expire" but this will probably change as the adviser said, at midnight 10th Jan?
I could go by bus but I cant leave my car at my house as its on a public road and the ticket inspectors in my area are on point!
It is insured by the way, and still has MOT till end of this month.........
Don't worry, it will stay that way until at least the 24th0 -
why not do the deed online?
If the DVLA site will allow you, why not simply do it now, using a bank card?
[use a credit card, and DVLA apply a surcharge]...
Why is the OP applying for a new V5c?
If the car has just changed registered keepers, then it is the duty of the RK currently on the V5c to inform DVLA of a change of keeper.
The OP can apply for new VED disc at any post office that has the service...using the tear-off slip from the original V5c...[plus, current MoT and valid insurance cert.]No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

Hi, no I dont have any part of the V5C cert. which is why I have to go to DVLA office, that is the quickest way for me to receive my tax disc. Ive just bought the car from a car pound which sells cars for the local council and they do not have the V5C.
At least if I go to DVLA, I can register car (and receive V5C in 4-6 weeks) But I can pay for and receive my tax disc on the day-this monday................0 -

Im the new owner,so if I do it online with the VIN number, I dont know where it would go as the car is unregistered...............0 -
Just called the DVLA office, got an automated response, but they said you do not have to display the new tax disc untill 11th Jan because of the xmas bank holidays.
So I have to go early on monday to get mine-probably be late for work-oh well0
