I would like to add some praise on here as a contrast to everyone else's experience :D

Our local City Link driver is an absolute star!! He is always happy and always early. He even beeps and waves if he sees me walking to work. The local depot is Hemel Hempstead which was damaged during the Buncefield explosion about 5 yrs ago and they were only a couple of days late with parcels even after that!!

On the other hand, when 'Happy City Link Man' (our nickname for him) is away on holidays it is a different matter altogether!! Late deliveries, invisible cards, you know the drill.

Surely our Happy City Link Man can't be the only one???

I am sure there are some goods ones but they are vastly outnumbered by the bad ones

  • Ok - I wanted to add my experience to this forum as I am particularly aggrieved right now. My tale of woe started on 15 December when I placed an order with Amazon for a really good deal on a Wii Console and Wii fit package. Don't normally treat myself like this but had worked hard during the year and it was Christmas. All went well and eta would be 20/21 December via CITY-LINK. Surprise, both days came and went and I was home both days, no card and nothing left on doorstep.

Logged on to the website and item was definitely there showing as having been despatched from Amazon on the 16th December, arrived at Kettering Depot at 1.52am on 18th December, so where was it now??? Tried to phone CL on three different phone numbers but irritating recorded message on all of them saying they were too busy. Sent email - nothing. Gave them the benefit of the doubt being Christmas - and waited until New Year. Rang Amazon - they offered full refund as they did not have the product in stock anymore to replace it. I declined the refund as they had in the meantime helpfully called CL and were told it was at Maidstone Depot ready for delivery but could not give a date. Great. Waited again - Nothing.

Rang and emailed several times again. Nothing. No update on tracker website either. Finally managed to get through on their head office number (prized out of Amazon) 019082 80240 and they phoned the depot - I held on with baited breath. She came back and asked me what was in the parcel - Uhhhmmmm suspicious - she went back to the depot. Finally after a good 15minutes of me holding on she came back saying that it could not be found. It must have had a wrong label or packing was damaged in some way. They could do no more and I was to go back to Amazon for a refund!!

I am livid. I purchased the item in good faith from Amazon, they despatched said item and it had a good enough label and was in good condition when it arrived within the City-Link walls. All I can think of is that some light fingered City-Link employee now has my Wii bundle and is laughing at the ease of his gain. All I get is a load of grief and expense with the number of calls made to City-Link. I cannot now purchase the same item as they are nowhere in stock for the same price £179.00 and since I ordered it we have had a VAT increase. I will never, ever use Amazon again for items that they use City-Link to deliver. It is a disgraceful company who do not care about the customer and whose security within its own domain is appalling. I will also think twice about buying anything else from the Amazon website as their only offer was a refund. No customer satisfaction at all - well not this one!
  • It's so infuritaing isn't it. At the time I am typing this I am back on the phone to CityLink asking for some sort of response to my complaint. As ever the conversation starts with giving them my consignment number only for them to respond with "it says here it was left safe in the porch" so them I have to explain the whole thing again.

The girl I'm talking to now is getting ont he phone to the dept to speak to the driver, I have no idea what good that is going to do as he turned up on our doorstep claiming he delivered it to my "mum" (see above post).

Now she's said we have to go back to amazon for a refund or redelivery. oh well! so no idea where it got to!
