You may want to try this aswell, instead of a blank tab opening you can have your homepage start in the new tab, Tools, Internet Options, General Tab, Tabs then click settings, and tick open home page for new tabs instead of blank page, and under when a pop up is encountered, tick let internet explorer decide how pop-ups should open, if this isnt ticked you wont get any new links open in tabs which is the whole point of IE7.

Also for tabs have a new tab in the current window, that makes the tabs work ho they should work, but ofcourse you can fiddle with the settings until you get them how YOU want them :)

In my opinion Microsoft is running scared - Firefox offered tabbed browsing, which if you have never used it before is invaluable (saves you having to open up multiple instances of firefox to view multiple pages) You can also set multiple homepages in the one window. All these are now available in ie7 so its really just a matter of choice - having tried ie7 its seems fine but like anything Microsoft it will be targeted by spyware makers to exploit bugs. Mozilla is open source meaning that the code of the programme is available to anyone - this makes finding and fixing problems quicker than Microsofts Patch Tuesday where it releases security up dates once a month - imagine that your browser can be insecure for a whole month!

Tabbed browsing has been around for ages, even before Firefox. Microsoft was just last to release they're browser. Both of them release what people want. I believe it was Opera that first introduced tabbed browsing.

Firefox may be open source, but it has a submission process to adhere too. Otherwise people could actually introduce flaws and security holes rather than remove them. So being open source isn't necessarily a benefit.

Microsoft follow a standard release pattern. One month is ok, and everyone knows when it is.

:D Gmail's spam filter is very good! :D

I use both Firefox 2.0 and IE7 beta 3 at the moment. I tried to upgrade to IE7 full version but my daughter's WoW game objected, so I had to roll it back to the beta for a while longer.

I was betering IE7 and then upgraded to full and to be honest, I found IE6 more secure as far as not crashing and playing me up etc. IE7 turned me to Firefox....
    Reassuringly expensive
