I just launched Outlook and it's supposed to log into my hotmail account automatically and download any waiting messages. Since dowloading IE7 it won;t carry out this operation. So, I deleted the hotmail account, then added it again, telling it to remember the password, but still does not work.
In the end I've system restored my laptop back to previous IE level and all is well again with Outlook.
Don't these things, which Microsoft make sound like a breeze, just drive you nuts for the lack of guidance they offer? Even if you go to Microsofts' website you're suddenly bombarded with endless information, all pretty poorly explained. Or is it just me?0 -
You could try something like incredimail which to me is an outlook express clone with additional spam settings or if you want to use a good browser try mozilla firefox and kiss goodbye to popups and spyware.

I had lots of problems with incredimail pop ups and uninstalled it fast.
My PC is old & bonkers like its owner. Tends to take a dim view of new software. However I have been advised that as I have NAV 06 renewal software installed (I think NAV on this machine is now uninstallable after a few attempts; it's working ok so you can put away your crosses) I should upgrade to IE7 for increased protection against phishing etc. I don't want NIS. However for same reason I am nervous. Just how much better is it than version 6? Have read some negative reviews.
Should I rather try firefox instead and if the PC goes mad as a result I presumably can uninstall it?
Nooo, it's not just you on MS's website. It's a sort of living hell.0 -
Good grief, do people still use Internet Explorer?
OK, so IE7 is better than IE6 but it's still not as good as Firefox.
I have to use IE when I'm at work and it is sooooo frustrating.

I've been using FF for a couple of years but I've changed back to IE as my default as I mostly just wanted the tab browsing and I always had to use IE for quite a few sites anyway. Still got FF 2.0 installed and it may be better but it's no longer that much better."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

In my opinion Microsoft is running scared - Firefox offered tabbed browsing, which if you have never used it before is invaluable (saves you having to open up multiple instances of firefox to view multiple pages) You can also set multiple homepages in the one window. All these are now available in ie7 so its really just a matter of choice - having tried ie7 its seems fine but like anything Microsoft it will be targeted by spyware makers to exploit bugs. Mozilla is open source meaning that the code of the programme is available to anyone - this makes finding and fixing problems quicker than Microsofts Patch Tuesday where it releases security up dates once a month - imagine that your browser can be insecure for a whole month!0

For an alternative email client just get Mozilla Thunderbird. Works well and it's got a good spam filter built in.It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends

BillScarab wrote:Right click on the menu bar or the command bar (near the icons on the right hand side for home, print etc.) and select customize command bar, then click add or remove commands. You should then have a list of commands you can add on the left hand side. One of these is Read mail. Add this one, make sure it is at the top of the list or it will be on the drop down arrow rather than always displayed.
Does this do what you need?
Hiya,
Yes it does! Thanks very much, still hard getting used to IE7 though!
