HELP!
Am new to all this. Am on ntl cable modem (ethernet connection to my pc).
Interested in this Linksys package, am prob going to be getting a laptop soon, lots of them say they have wireless built in, would I need to get a linksys card to put in the laptop as well?
I understand the usb bit you get with the above package is for plugging into your desktop pc?
Thanks0 -
Hi spudgunner - no card required if wireless is built in. The USB adapter is for connecting devices that do not have built in wireless. If your router is next to your pc then you don't need the usb adapter - ebay?0

Hi
I have NTL 10mg connection, will this router be fast enough or is there an alternative I should be looking at?
Thank you :-)0 -

The one for dsl (bt) is the WAG54GS at £54.99
Also, if you're interested in the 3rd party firmware I don't think there's any available that will work on the WAG54GS.0 -

Basically the first 3 digits of the serial number will be 'CGN' followed by a number. Ideally you're looking for a number that is 6 or lower to get a version 4 or older model. There is a list of the serial numbers near the top of this page.
However, as others have said, don't attempt this unless you're happy that you know what you are doing, and are prepared for the fact that you may end up with a not-so-attractive paperweight if it goes wrong0
