It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

I somehow doubt whatever he thinks makes any difference whatsoever to what goes on in the country.

I think he probably does have some influence in the Labour party... but that is beside the point. The ideals he believes in turns the UK into a cesspit, whilst he escapes to the country.

Could also be argued that those with a sense of self entitlement from birth have turned this country into a cesspit.

Dorset is still in the Uk so he aint escaped has he.

What actual ideals does he have that offend your kind hearted nature?

He lives about 250m from my cousin, who also has a house that 'just growed,' like Topsy.

FWIW I wouldn't wish to live there; crap soil, salt laden winds, not a lot of privacy and surrounded by rich old folk.

Still, he wrote that song.....how did it go?....'Sing if You're Glad to be Grey.' He must've really meant it. ;)

He says on his website that "It is clear from the content that this anonymous letter has been written by a disgruntled supporter of the British National Party."
    How does he know that?

Billy Bragg's music was fine for young serious people, and we can all choose to buy it or not.

What gets my goat is him popping up on discussion programmes as some sort of spokesman for England and Englishness. Why exactly?
    Been away for a while.

The only people that bought Billy Braggs stuff, were middle class lefties. The downtrodden masses that he liked to bang on about were never in the slightest interested in his music. I believe he did work on the accent as well.

So its not because he's a baby boomer then? I bet he's got a final salary pension squirreled away somewhere as well;).

Well, I bought loads of his albums and went to his gigs and I am not middle class. I am a lefty though, I suppose.

The thing is, it is quite hard to be a socialist in isolation. I consider myself a socialist but I don't begrudge people who have earned their money fairly and honestly from spending it however they want.

I can't see the attraction with huge houses like that though, and if I came into a large amount of money I would probably continue to live in a modest property (albeit in a nicer area than where I live now). I wouldn't feel right employing cleaners and the like and a house like that would take a lot of looking after.

The only scenario in which I can imagine buying a huge house would be so I could fill it with rescued animals!
What does it matter that it's a big house.

Daily Mail scraping the barrel for non-story.

    There's nothing to discuss.

But he won't be once he starts demanding that Burton Bradstock builds a housing estate for 1,000 'asylum seekers', will he...

Oh, wait... he would never do that, would he, because that's precisely the reason he LEFT Barking...

Billy Bragg has no right to tell other people how to live their lives, and he also has no right to FORCE other people to grow up in a country which is now a foreign country. (Careful though, we can't actually talk about the 'r' word on this forum, because we all know that freedom of speech isn't allowed when certain people, who have an insane agenda to force on the rest of us, are going to be found out...)

If Billy Bragg loves 'multi culturalism' so much, and thinks it's so wonderful, why did he leave it and move as far away as possible from it?

    Hmm...
Where & when did he say any of those things about anywhere ? ;)
