Eeeep yes it IS exciting!
I just hope my family and friends don't get fed up with all the wedding talk!
Congrats on giving up smoking! I've been reading back on this thread and your plans sound lovely - it's great to talk to people getting married at a similar time!
We've done a lot of budget planning - and it's coming in at £3,850 so far. We have contributions from a few family members and are planning to save a bit each month. We've started with contributions from people and what we think can afford to save, deducted the total costs of the ceremony and reception and then done our best to allocate our remaining money to all the items that we think we need to consider... we need to find a way of upping the budget a bit though because we're struggling with a few areas (if we spend what we've allocated for each item so far, the budget for my dress is £0, hrmph!!).
The flower theme is: daisies, daffodils and tulips... with a colour theme of pink, white and yellow. (My favourite flowers and colours - and very Springy and Eastery!) I saw suggested on here about egg shell candles - love the idea! Just need to check that we can have candles - but I'm sure that will be allowed at a hotel! For favours, we would like to get hold of those little organza bags (super cheap on Ebay) and fill them with Cadburys choc mini eggs - again, very Easter, we want to make the most of the time of year (and who can resist mini eggs?!)!
I love that you've chosen 1st AprilWhat a brill date!

oh you'll find that everyone - including you will get tired of wedding talk! :rotfl:
Thanks for the wishes about giving up smoking! It was either give up smoking or not have a wedding - sorry but smoking was not important any more! Plus I have to get my indefinite leave to remain (I'm south african on an ancestoral visa which expires in May next year!) before I get married to my OH!
Oh you'll find a way of upping your budget - this place is a great place to start! As for your dress budget - a friend had an idea when she was getting married - instead of a gift/honeymoon list, she asked for a wedding dress fund! it worked and alot of people helped put money toward her dress!
Loving your colours! Sounds gorgeous! I wanted tulips but can't afford real flowers so wooden roses will have to do! :rotfl:
We had a nightmare with our wedding date... we wanted the 12th, it was mid week and no one would have been able to make it /take the day off, then we wanted the 22nd but it was another family wedding the same week so when we looked at our venue and they offered us the whole venue for the 1st, we jumped at it! The church was a little iffy about the date as next year the 1st april is Palm Sunday! And normally the church can't be adorned with flowers etc... so we compromised... no flowers! That's alright......... it's cheaper for us!

Hi all just wondering how you're all getting on with your planning? My budget is £2000 and have just started looking at prices for things etc. We are going to see the vicar of the church we want to have on Thursday to check if the date is ok. Think I'm settled on having the wedding late on and then straight on to an evening reception with over 100 family and friends :-S how's everyone else getting on.
Was just talking to some friends on Saturday who are getting married and she was going on about her £650 dress and how her parents are paying for everything (all the trimmings) trying not to be jealous but it was very hard!!

Hiya!
My planning came to a huge stop this month - the combination of giving up smoking and having no money was the main reason!
:rotfl:
But after I went to a wedding this weekend - one that I though would be the wedding of the century and wasn't - my planning is well on way to getting started up again!
We are having a late wedding too - church ceremony is at 4:30 - hope to be finished by 6, then onto the reception. My h2b's bil (who is also his best man) has hired us a rock band for a 2 hour set and we have a dj so we are trying to work out how to get the best out of both of them - you gals might need to help me on this one!
Our budget isn't big - £4k all in excluding the honeymoon... but you know what... it's going to be a fantastic day! So what if your friends dress is £650 - that's my whole budget for me, my bm, the groom and the best man... and a little left over for shoes and a hat for my mum! And I'm proud of that!0 -
For some of us mse'er wedding planners, I thought this might help - I've just ordered my side tiara from here....0

That looks like a really good site. Which Tiara did you go for?
When it arrives can you let us know what it's like quality wise etc?
My planning has come to a halt as I currently don't have a job as of September... I'm hoping something will come up though between now and then.First date 10.2.2002
Engaged 18.8.2010
Wedding 9.4.2012
Baby #1 due 26.2.2014 :j0 -
The same one in the pic on the front page on the pillow (not the one on the lady mannequin)0
