Yes I know what you mean, it's like a silent pushing of the hot air. I should have stated volume wise three blade eco, and the five blade Vulcan fan move air quicker, but again in a silent fashion, if this makes sense??

A Badger, no it has been great. Into the third year now and considering how fast and constant the parts move I think it's fair enough that it may need tweaking. I hope that's all it is - not keen to fork out lots. I'll send it here http://www.ecofan.co.uk/ It is a bit of an expensive outlay for these 'gadgets' but I do think it improves the overall performance of a stove, and frankly it's a beautiful wee object. I was fascinated by it at first! Sure you can do without one, but if you have 100 quid going spare......hmmm.0

Shedgirl . If you are OK with a small soldering iron \Perhaps.....ES001 (800MKR) Motor Replacement Kit for Ecofan models 800 & 802
After much usage an Ecofan motor can wear out. Motor Replacement Kits are available for customers who wish to install a new motor rather than sending the old unit back to Calfire for repair or purchasing a new Ecofan.
The replacement task is straight forward; however the consumer must have the capability to solder the new motor to the existing wires.
The replacement kit comprises a new motor, an Allen/hex key to remove the blade and full instructions.
The most common symptoms of a worn out motor is the Ecofan spinning slower, taking longer to start, or needing a push to start turning.
The Diy motor kit is a about £12 depending on postage. You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0 -
Thanks Anotherbaldrick. That's exactly what I do - give it a shove to get it going and then it's not rotating fast enough. But soldering? Moi? Yikes, no! I can handle an allen key though!0

Haha, tv's not my thing so looking at my ecofan of an evening is my only entertainment - is that weird? Soldering is also not my thing although come to think of it my laddie is studying electrical engineering...hmmm. Might give it a go!0

It may be as well to send the fan back to Ecofan as it may not be just the motor. The peltier cell which produces the electricy for the fan can fail. Sending the fan back for refurb should mean you get a fully working fan again. I think they contact you to advise on price of overhaul prior to repairing.
This was one of the reasons for my decision to buy the Vulcan as no peltier cells involved. They fail on a regular basis on some of the equipment I work on and when replacing require setting up to the correct torque setings when fitting or you may damage them.
Mind you if you can replace the motor yourself and this does not cure the fault then you can still send it for refurb.
Good luckIf at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you! :dance:0 -
Well, after reading this thread I ordered an Eco Fan from Amazon.com. It finally arrived today, the hottest day of the year so far LOL. Anyway, using it tonight for the first time and we can definitely feel a difference in the whole room, it's amazing.
So glad we did get to use it this year :-)0 -
Well done xbrenx! I got my fan back from the repairer a few weeks ago - he fitted a new motor and was about £20 - and it's back to full speed now. I do think it's quite a beautifully made thing and yes it does make a difference, particularly when I open the living room door. It helps to push the warm air out into the hall. It is expensive to buy though I guess but I have never regretted it.0

I just got the ecofan 802 3 blade and used it tonight. Once the wood burner was going around 30 mins I touched the fans and they started to turn and kept going for a while. Is it normal for fans to stop? I took the fan away to cool down, the fins/blades were hot and put it back on and worked fine, now its again not working. I position the fan at far end of the stove I just have enough space between the fan and the centre pipe where smoke goes up0
