Beardy ......... You beat me with the answer!!
It is a easy one to replace.
Mine did not alarm either, but I think the reason is that if the outlet temp is higher than input it is ignored, whereas below it is sensed. As Manuel says in Fawlty Towers: " I Know Nothing"0 -

I don't have anything like that fitted. Just got the main bypass pipe across the top of the GSHP between CH in and CH out.
We do have one big radiator (in the hall near the temp sensor) which is full on, so I guess that's a bypass as well.
Doing an experiment this morning with putting a load of loft insulation around all the CH pipe work in addition to the climaflex to see if I'm losing heat within the boiler room.
I bought a load of polystyrene panels to insulate the walls in my boiler room. Quite easy to fit as well!!As Manuel says in Fawlty Towers: " I Know Nothing"0 -
Hi Xander.
It is probably a sensor fault, I have only had it once on my unit. It is a quick job to replace, once you have a new one.
The sensor is located under the right hand panel of the pump, on the outlet line from the ground loop pump. There should be a thin lead going into the insulation/foil covering, (probably black). Sensor is only a few cms long, so easy to see.
The new sensor will come with the connection for the panel and it is just a case of changing over. Very easy.

Is it the same sensor as the GT1 sensor? If it is then ICE should be able to supply for less than £20 inc VAT and P&P.
At least if any of them were going to go, it's the right one to go as it won't impact anything (although obviously not ideal as the GSHP won't know to shutdown if the temp goes too low).0 -
Yes, just a small unit like GT1, with the cable and connection. As Manuel says in Fawlty Towers: " I Know Nothing"0

Brilliant thanks Beardy & lovesgshp, I'll give ICE a call in the morning!
No alarms so not sure when the fault arose, some point within the last month.
Thanks a bunch!0 -
Patrol.
Did you get the problem fixed? As Manuel says in Fawlty Towers: " I Know Nothing"0 -
Hi,
Got my Pressure Relief Valve replaced with one with a Pressure Gauge. There was no pressure in it at all beforehand. I twisted the top on the valve to release the pressure prior to taking it off, and no fluid came out at all. Also fitted a filling loop (had to run pipe work in to do that), and so topped it up to 1Bar.
Performance has improved slightly, but it's not made the difference I was hoping for. The improvement in the weather has helped massively though :-)0 -
Hi Beardy.
It will not make a enormous amount of difference, but it is better for the flow pump, plus it helps if there are any air issues in the ground lines. Just monitor the pressure for a while.
Have spent most of this morning at 650 mtrs in settled snow, measuring out a ground loop project .......... cold feet !!!!As Manuel says in Fawlty Towers: " I Know Nothing"0 -
Hi
Really busy but yes soft start was replaced last Wednesday and all seems to be working fine.0 -
Hi do any of you GSHP users have any recommendations for Electricity suppliers.
I have an ASHP and my usage is about 13000Kwh pa.
Ideally I am after a single cheap rate 24 hours per day.0
