What make and model of heat pump, what sort of emitters (Radiators, underfloor, fan coil units). Does it also heat hot water, if so is it still set, for how long and to what temperature.
What is the flow temperature, is weather compensation active. Has it got a boost or immersion heater. Is it activated. What sort of temperature & timer controls has the cottage got apart from the controller on the heatpump. How big is the place. How well is it insulated
What was you electricity consumption over that period in kwh as that's more informative than just how much it all cost especially if you are on an expensive tariff. What tariff are you on (price per kwh and s/c)
If we assume 13p/kWh, your £124 works out at about 40kWh per day, so I'd be happy with that for my situation, but then I am running a decent sized very well insulated occupied house most of which on rads.
Easy and obvious checks would be the cold side and hot side filters, but like dave says we'd need more info to go deeper.0 -
Thank you very much for your input beardy marrow and matelodave.
I think you have already helped put my mind at rest that things aren't too bad.
We have an IVT heat pump in a fairly large, very well insulated house. We have radiators, vaulted ceilings too so a lot of space to heat. The add heat is on every day. The cottage has no heating or temperature controls. We were told when it was fitted that heat pumps couldn't have heating controls. It has a temperature sensor in the hall and one outside on North facing wall.
Temperatures here have been around freezing point most days in the last three weeks, she days milder, but not many. Our energy supplier charges 15.16p per kWh and 22.42p per day sc.
Thank you very much for your help so far.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

Still might not be a bad idea to check the filters. Can't hurt.0 -
You could try to get a better tariff - mine is 12.25p/kw with 13p/day. Not sure you can get it that cheap nowadays but just saving a penny or two a kwh could be worth over £100 to £150 a year depending on how much you use. (Your tariff would cost me nearly £300 a year more on my annual consumption of 7200kwh/yr)
We've got an air source heatpump and have averaged about 46kwh/day since 1st Jan with some days over 50 and some down to less than 40Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers1 -

I live in Cambridgeshire and my leccy is with Neon Reef on their Aqua One tariiff. I went with them in October as my deal with Symbio had finished and they started faffing around when I tried to renew with them.
The NR tariff I'm on isn't available anymore. I check tariffs every couple of months or so and then jump to the cheapest. I've had about ten different suppliers in the last ten years (three of which have gone bust and forced a move but I've still stayed ahead and saved lots of money over the time).
I shall start seriously looking again when winter is over as I've still got a couple of months worth of high consumption (earlier if NR put up their prices - my present tariff is variable)
I've just checked and Symbio still do a variable tariff for 12.5pkw & 20p/s/c and their fixed isn't much more so there are still a few cheap deals around if you want to take a chance.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers1 -

I just looked them up on t'interweb.
But if you mean are they OK then I've no complaints so far. I send in a reading at the end of the month and get a bill 5-6 days later which is accurate. They send an e-mail when the bill is available and I download it immediately What more can I say.
Just had a look at beardymarrow's PfP and their quote is sillyUnit Rate: 17.157p per KWhStanding Charge: 23.3189p per DayTCR: 19.4p per KWhNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
I think that our tariff is higher because it is 100% renewable. We pay the same rate in our own home. We are with Octopus. I moved to them as they were the cheapest 100% renewable with good customer service. It is a lot more than you are paying. I have had some cash back too as I have referred other people and received £50 a time.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527
