how do I stop pop up

keep getting a message popping from spyware saying computer affected. how do I stop these pops ups?

I use pop-up blocker on the Google toolbar
its easy to disable on specific sites by just clicking it on and off too

Change from Internet Explorer to Mozilla Firefox. Apart from having less security holes it has its own pop-up blocker..If you are interested you can check it out at http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

Another vote for Firefox. If you don't want to switch browser then the Google toolbar is good and Norton Firewall will also block them. Both Google and Norton can be configured to alow some popup's through.
