Before you shell out for anything new, just clean the existing MAF.Its only a wire inside the housing so just spray some brake/carb cleaner on it as that will shift any gunk that might have gathered and be throwing out the signal.
I doubt its your idle control valve as that wouldn't affect your power once moving, its more for tickover.
You may also have a vacuum leak, check all the little black rubber pipes for splits.

ICV i used to clean out with carb cleaner. it get clogged with soot. good point others have made on the MAF, the non cheap bosch ones are not worth a penny in a pound, poor poor quality part, fuel parts or intermotor are two manufacters i can recommend.

You should have asked them to give you both old parts when they changed them (if only for peace of mind that they DID change them), now you could swap one over and then the other and possibly cure your problem.

As it is, I recommend you go to a few scrap yards (or Ebay) and get another MAF, they are very easy to change over usually.

I'd also change the spark plugs if its petrol and if it has HT leads those aswell, possibly the coil pack (if it has one)
