Old problem with car reappeared

Maybe it is the idle control valve then not the MAF as they were replaced at the same time.0

you need a diag on the car to see what comes up hen reset it and see what comes up in a month0

I once used to get an intermittent complete loss of power with a fuel injection Montego. After an incident when I temporarily lost all power when in the righthand lane of the M25 in the dark and rain I had a good look under the bonnet. I pulled and pushed all the wiring harness whilst the engine was running and found that the leads which led to the air sensor were the problem. I noticed that they were stretched tightly and I managed to pull some slack in from further along on the harness and then the problem went away. Cost? Zero, so worth a try.0 -

was that a vauxhall by anychance0 -
It sounds like a £30 ebay MAF was fitted but you were charged full whack. 18 months is not bad for a pattern part and as its easy to change yourself (and is very unlikely to show up as the direct fault if scanned) is likely to be a cheap fix.0

No, the Montego was an Austin model back in the 1980s. The one in question was a 1986 Vanden Plas version which I bought at an auction.0 -
cool i used to have a montego turbo that was amazing0

Cheap MAF aren't worth fitting - get a proper Bosch one. They are easy to fit (well, depending on access, but they are just undo 2 screws, old one out, new one in, tighten screws, refit wiring plug)0
-
i would also roll the rubber sleve back on the plug and check that they arent all green and crusty as that is a common problemo0
