    Oooooo lovely thanks.

I am feeling much better today. No idea what was wrong with me but my back was aching and my legs were so heavy I felt like I was wading through jelly. Anyhooos better today. Very focused and much done. Just stopped for a cuppa.

Found weevils in my flour last night when I went to make scones. Felt most upset because I was all organised for cheese scones for this weeks lunches, fruit scones and twinks hobnobs for treats and a blackcurrant and apple upside down tart (free blackberries and free windfall apples from the village) and ended up having to throw everything from baking cupboard away. Rubbish. Got bleach this morning and bleached the cupboards out. Not a lover of the old bleach (prefer natural cleaning stuff) but needs must.

Was a bit naughty last night. Well kind of. Because I couldnt bake I decided to have a browse at the OS boards and spotted the bargains threads. Well I did have a little bit of money in my treats account so I ended up buying (for P&P only) a mascara and lip gloss and some SATC perfume. My (very old) mascara and lip gloss were confiscated at Stanstead Airport when I went to Austria because I didnt have them in the regulation size bag (jobsworths ) I have no idea what the perfume smells like but as I havent had any perfume for so long and I used to be known for my love of perfumes I thought what the heck. So for the grand total of £5.95 I got
    • revlon mascara
    • lip gloss
    • 2x SATC bottles of perfume.

Lucky for me the BENCH 3 for 1 glasses via Quidco crashed so my little foray into buying myself new glasses was a failure. I have lost my (very expensive) distance glasses (sure they are here somewhere) so for 12 months have been using my reading glasses or contact lenses. Having read FWs blog about me being my best asset and if I dont look after me then how can I earn my keep I thought I should sort this out. This seemed like a perfect opportunity to sort myself out. Might try again later.

Not content I decided to really treat myself, my BF (exMIL) gave me a sample face wash of Liz Earle whilst I was visiting last time and it was lovely. So I went onto the website (via Topcashback) and lo and behold there was an offer of free p&p so I signed up and ordered a bottle. I will get complimentary gifts and a complimentary gift and money off voucher will be sent to my friend.

So total spent £25.95. I think that is good value when you consider that in the past I was known to spend ahem £45 on a bottle of Angel perfume or L'Occitane perfumes.

I dont spend on myself often. When I spend treat money it is usually on household things. So I dont feel guilty at all. I did it in a very MSE way.

  • Some fantastic bargains there and you do need to treat yourself to feel better sometimes.

I took my old dog this morning and had him put to sleep but it is not sad as he didn't even know where he was. He went down fast over the weekend, very sad but he isn't suffering, and now we can remember him when he was fit and strong.
One small step for ME, one giant leap for my family!

Aw, Me I am sorry to hear that. I do understand completely though. When I took Benson (my cocker spaniel) it was after he had a very bad weekend which happened all at once I knew it was the right thing to do. My friend came with me to drive me so that I wasnt worrying about that. She was worse than me. I loved him so much that I couldn't have beared to hang on and see him get worse. I think the best thing we can do for our pets is make the decision at the right time for them not for us. Big hugs, may his spirit soar at Rainbow Bridge.

I'm so sorry to hear this :grouphug:

I still think its sad..... especially when they deterioriate so quickly, you don't have time to prepare yourself. But he'll be waiting at the Rainbow Bridge as MrsM says, and having a play in the meantime ....

MrsM - it was indeed bargainous! Tho weevils are not nice :(

  • Definately at Rainbows Bridge, he was nearly 14 and we got a good 8 months longer than we expected.

My mum looked after DH and DS and my dad came with me, we stayed with him as they did it and I cuddled him during and after and my dad sobbed, I've never seen my dad cry like that before but he was special to us all. But at least in a few weeks DH will let me get pictures out of him whereas when he was getting old he couldn't look at them.

It is our last service to our beloved friends and a very good thing to do - though it is hard.
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

Your first ever post on my diary was on 6th Sept.
I have 2 dogs - an elderly black lab that I fear may not be with us much longer and a 6 month old whos is 1/4 rottie. 1/4 shar pe (wrinkly dog) 1/4 lab 1/4 dalmation. We rescued him and he is lovable if a bit insecure.

I just put a post onto Moos blog about Benson. It is the first time I have been able to look at pictures and remember him in full bloom. He will get there in time.

So true Tricia. Too many people take too long. Benson was 13 and had a very happy life as I am sure did your pooch Me.

  • Didnt realise we had been neighbours for nearly a year! So we actually got nearly a year (mainly thanks to the Hawthorn tablets). DH put him still being here on his Christmas list last year and he was, it would have been very wishful thinking to have been here for this one :A.

The rottie cross is very out of sorts tonight, they are used to being apart and he is waiting for him to come home.

Im glad you are now able to look at pictures of Benson, time is a great healer and I will enjoy picking one to frame.
