Okay, I just read that, and it made me cry ....
I am sorry I didnt mean to make anybody cry. When I tell that story to people now I usually make them laugh (its the way I tell it). Although to be honest it did make me cry at the time. Sorry.

How lovely is everybody on here? I love this forum. DC I still have Zaks collar and tag, Bensons collar and tag and Baloo and Bennys collar and tags. They are the few things that I just cant get rid of for some reason.

Hope the big softie gave you lots of cuddles me and that today is a bit easier for you and OH.

  • We've had lots of cuddles and a few tears when we came home from work this morning as he was expecting to see the old man as if we had picked him up from Nannys, as that was where he went when the young one went to the kennels.

He has adopted his spot on the sofa which is lovely.

Hope things are a bit easier as the days go by Me.

Sorry I have been AWOL I have had a very busy week. Today I heard that a good friend of Mr C's has sadly passed away. I think it has knocked the stuffing out of him this week as he has been speaking with his other friend a lot to find out what is happening. Again it has brought home to us how short life can be and how, at the moment, we seem to be existing rather than living.
Time to really take a grip of things I think, come out fighting. So I may retreat for a while as I put my thinking cap on and get working on some spreadsheets and put a plan into action.

Aw MrsM, take care of you and MrC and take all the time you need to do what the two of you need for yourselves. You are very right; time to start living.

Tonight's prom was the Spaghetti Western Orchestra - superb. It has finished now but I assume it will appear on i-player. DD and I got our knickers in a twist texting one another to watch and ignoring the texts because we were watching! :rotfl:

Off to find a DVD - I hope!
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

You had me slightly confused there because tonight's prom was, in fact, the BBC symphony orchestra playing Mahlers sixth. Then I realised that you said "watching" and went over to BBC to check it out and it was the Comedy proms that you had been watching on BBC 4. Yes it will (or should) be on the iplayer soon. It says coming soon at the moment. Probably be on later this evening.
I did listen to it live but had a rather mixed reactions to it to be honest.

Tonights Prom was superb. They usually play every prom again on Radio 3 the following day or on BBC 4 at some point. Of course they always put the last night on live.

I love it when people enjoy the proms. I really wish more people realised that they could get into the prom for just £5 if they are prepared to queue.

True Cheri, and I am guilty of the same thing. Happy that DS1 (17) seems to be full of ambition at the moment, talk of travel and such, realising that he can do anything. Clearly my struggles financially aren't seeping through to him - and so they shouldn't.

    Take it easy :)

Sorry to hear the news about your OH's friend ... life is short, indeed, and it can be very short. Regrouping to grieve and to change direction is often very powerful - hope you can get some time together with Mr C to do just that ...

    Lots of hugs.

I think you have to take it as what it is and you certainly need to see it or it will make little sense. It was fun and a frolic and I'd like to see them again.

Queuing for a £5 ticket is fine if

    a. You can stand long enough,
    b. you do not take into account the cost of travel.
    c. you can afford to have spent for the travel and then not get in.

I have prommed extensively when younger but it was pretty local to me. It's one of the things I'm really glad I did when I had the chance.

I agree with all of the above. I live in Wales so this year the visits have been less but I
    • take a fold up chair or cushion - get a raffle ticket and the people in the queue take it in turns to go into the bar so we dont worry if somebody is gone for a while
    • use trainline to buy all of my tickets in advance - cheapest I have gotten to London for is £11 and the dearest I will pay is £21
    • Stay in Imperial College Beit Hall, right next to the queue and very cheap for 2 people so I just join the queue early and get my ticket - never been refused entry yet.

As I see this as the main part of my holiday per year I do plan well in advance so that helps.
It is more that I didnt discover that you can see the best orchestras in the world for just £5 and so many people think that the proms are elitest which is such a shame. I am sure that in the future I will not have the chance so like you I am really glad that I do get the chance now.
