It is the Monday before the Bank Holiday Monday which is the day before the Queens "official" birthday for certain workers who get the day off. That would be me included. Given that I get paid on the last working day of the month I wonder if I will be paid on Friday? Hmmm I bet not

I am doing far better than I expected this month. I have been very good at keeping to my guessed budget this month. My little notebook is filled with every single penny that has been spent this month. I have been very anal about it. And so next month I plan to reduce it. I might just take on an MG £100 challenge to see how long I can last!
I have just had to pay out for something that I kind of knew was coming but not when. So I am now light for 2 flights to Austria, 2 nights accommodation and 2 nights doggy minding. 5 weeks and counting!!!!

  • So is it 5 weeks until you actually get the keys to your new house? How did it go with the renting of the flat?

I needed a bit of inspiration this morning as days need to be 48 hours long to catch up on everything that I should have done. I no longer have "weekends" and those quotes really helped put a smile on my face :).

I'm having a quick catch up on here today but won't be around much until next week at the earliest :(. Can't wait for a proper day off, although there is no free time in the diary for the forseeable future. Back in November I never thought it would be like this and I'm not going to complain! Enjoy your days off x

  • I forgot to tell you I found a brilliant kennels for my young dog, he loves it there and jumps at the gate to be let in, makes life much easier knowing he is safe and happy when we are away. We still have the old one and my mum has him and he is pampered when he stays there and never wants to come home :rotfl:.

Cheri - sounds like things are moving in the right direction. Pity about the travel shortfall. Is there any chance of finding someone to house/petsit to save the dog cost, otherwise is one of his doggie friends' owners wanting to cooperate, so you can look after each others saving you both money. Admittedly from the photos it looked like he loved it last time with the other 2 danes.

Sorry for exciting everybody. 5 weeks to me flying out for the contract signing but it will be a while after that before I get the keys I think. I will tell more as soon as I have any information.
Se - the shortfall for travel has been taken out of my emergency fund so not really an issue, I am trying hard to stop feeling like I need to hoard money. This is an investment in my future so I am a bit more relaxed than normal. The good news is that a good friend is going to look after Moo for me now so no cost there. However as she is doing this as a favour I will be thinking of a nice way to repay her. Some good ideas there regarding the sharing of sitting with friends. We have discussed this with the lady who has the 2 danes, unfortunately I have no facilities to keep 3 danes together but that is a good thing because I might just dog nap them!!!!

Could you dogsit at their place instead? I've done housesitting before, but never with pets, it's quite good really.

P.S. Sorry forgot the oriental cats I'm auntie to - oh and i did have a friends teenagers one time too :)

Now why did I not think of that? As they live in a lovely thatched cottage surrounded by 7 acres that would be rather cool. To be honest though I dont think they take holidays together often as they run a business and they tend to spend most of their time doing that.
Rather you than me with teenagers, give me a dog anyday :)

It's worth raising it with them, sometimes people don't consider going away because they don't have easy dog care options etc., especially with 2 mega loved great danes :)
