Bu**er, Bu**er and Bu**ger again!
I have just been looking at my spreadsheet (as I do!) and I suddenly noticed that my payment of £225 due to go to the house account tomorrow isn't on there! It is now, and it makes not so great reading - but its still ok! I was wondering why it looked like I was suddenly much better off as of tomorrow - and now I know! at least you found out before it happened, and before you transfered the money somewhere else!
i always spend longer checking my numbers when they look healthy than when they look squeaky tight, i guess i'm more used to the latter so doubt myself when they look good.0 -
Good morning All!
Just a quick update from me as we are in the midst of Pre-Easter Mayhem here - and we are having the building extended at the same time, so it is crazy times at work!
Uploaded my latest gas and elec meter readings last night and the lovely supplier has now reduced my monthly DD by £12 - down to £52.00... This is mad (not that I am complaining!!) but before I changed supplier, I was paying nearly £100 a month on my combined bill!!! This means that we are now overpaying the 'house account' by about £96 per month!!! Happy days!! I am going to let this run until the end of the year when we should have a nice little cushion in there (acording to my spreadsheet, we should start the new year about £500 in credit), and then review the amount we transfer each month!! (still need to speak to Virgin about our package, so hopefully will get a reduction on that for 6 months or so too - another job for when I am off!)
LT - the strange thing was I couldn't understand how I was suddenly 'so well off'!! (relatively speaking) because I hadn't got to my 'free wages week' (5th payday of the month!!). Luckily everything is ok - and back to being as tight as I would usually expect!
Right - work calls or I will be here on Good friday and that is a NO NO!!

hi Nats,
only hope your supplier doesn't trebble your bill when you've had a winter quarter, I have had flaming rows with them before now when they want to change the DD every five minutes without factoring in the annual average of what we spend. I do keep my eyes on it like a hawk though, which reminds me i must take a reading tonight and update my spreadsheets.0 -

Ooh - what a perfect excuse to play with a spreadsheet! I am just creating one at home for my utility expenses - can't believe I haven't do so before!
And yes! There will be trouble if they put it up vastly in the winter - thats the whole point of paying monthly by DD - it averages out oveer the whole year!start = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225

I know what you mean LT, I pay mine by quarterly bill for that reason, I may pay for not having a monthly direct debit set up but at least I only pay for exactly what I use.
I have had major rows with companies over things like that.LBM- finally kicked in 16/12/08 @ [strike]£41,862 [/strike] £0.00/ DFD- 24/12/13

Luckily there will soon be some 'slush' to cover such an eventuality!
I just struggle to remember to pay bills when they come in - much prefer everything going out and then dealing with the fall-out if necessary!
On the topic of 'fall-outs' I am still waiting to hear that my old car finance has been overpaid and that there is money wininging it's way beack to my account! Phonecall to them tomorrow if it hasn't appeared me thinks!start = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225

i've just listed my 'they've sat around for too long jobs and not been done' list so that i have to report back and get some progress.0
-
Am losing the plot - forgot to bring my old finance paperwork to work, so now I can't call them until tomorrow as I am out straight after work (circuits) and won't be home til about 8.30.......don't hold any hope of getting sensible answers out of people at that time of evening anyway - not even sure if they would still be open. So that's another job for tomorrow.
LT - That list sounds like a good plan! I would do one - but the thought alone scares me a little!!!! I might draft one on paper and if it's not too bad put a copy on here.... then again, maybe not.... we'll see!start = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225
