I just had a parcel delivered by Ukmail.
First attempt they simply lost the parcel - they recorded it as "Left in porch" but given we were in all day, and in any event do not have a porch, who knows where they delivered it to and left it...someone presumably came back to an unexpected 25kg of bird food
I noticed at 1400 on the day in question that tracking said the parcel had allegedly been delivered at 1230. When I called them, Ukmail said they would call back by 1600, which didn't happen. I called them back, they again said they would call back soon, again didn't happen. Called for a third time at 1800 when they said the driver had gone off duty so there was nothing they could do and call back tomorrow. Throughout there was a clear attitude of not caring in the slightest that they had lost a parcel.
Called the next morning for the fourth time and got an equally useless response - they said they would ask driver who might try to redeliver, but to report the parcel as lost. That was the last I heard from them.
The sender immediately sent a replacement box, which was a big 25kg box. Ukmail thought it appropriate to simply leave this large parcel on the doorstep of a surburban London house in full view of passers-by when there was no-one to take delivery, asking for it to be stolen as it lay there for several hours (all my neighbours are elderly and take in parcels, so they could have left it with any of them). Fortunately it wasn't stolen so at least I got the second parcel.0 -
Congratulations, Hugheskevi, so I should remain hopeful, but only until I leave for a holiday in two-days' time without my sport equipment that should have been delivered last week and then today and then tomorrow...0

I know how you feel. I hate ordering items on line. The fear of being out when item arrives. I hate it my item ends up being left in the garden. I had a microwave delivered some time ago. It turned up on the wrong day, Argos left it in the garden. I wish these companies would text when out for delivery.0

None of these companies make over 1.6 out of 5. Seems balanced.
DPD makes 2.2. One of the best (IMO) and well invested couriers going

The thing is I work from home so I can be home all day but what help is it if the delivery is not made as advised? Or if you're dealing with a company that still claims the delivery has been attempted or even that your parcel has been delivered when it clearly hasn't? BTW I have been ordering online for years, never had any problems, until this one now.0 -
We had the same problem last week. No delivery (I work from home and my pc is next to the door), no note and then logged it as delivery attempted. Next day I was just by chance by the back door and the courier was there - it turns out they had been delivering it to the back. So they had to walk through 15 gardens to get to the back door instead of just coming to the front door like any normal person.
And a couple of days back another, different UKmail delivery man was trying to deliver to my neighbours back door! No wonder people seem to rarely get their mail - they are completely mad!0 -
