ukmail - woeful service

Not really UKMail's fault that you have a dishonest neighbour with a door that's pretending to be yours though. A postman would probably realise the numbers were out of sync but a delivery man would just see the number and think it's the right house.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140

My point regarding UKMail is that the pm should have realised that Brown and my name are worlds apart. Should he not have had some sort of generic check in place. I agree about the dishonest neighbour though - he is very plausible.0

The name doesn't make any difference.
UKMail have the same policy as Royal Mail (and probably most, if not all couriers), in that they are only contracted to deliver to an address and not to a specific person.
So if the UKMail delivery person thought that the address was correct, then they wouldn't have any reason to question the name put down by the recipient.0 -

I wonder if you'd still feel this way if you was waiting for an important/valuable parcel to be delivered and they knocked on the door and refused to leave it with a member of your family because they have a different name0 -

I was expecting a parcel, and had an email from the website (a photo printer company) saying that it had been sent.
When I got in last night (Friday 13th), there was a card saying UKMail had tried to deliver the parcel - no one was in (well it was a work day).I love this. so everyone work the same hours then?
I tried to rearrange on the UKMail website but it said I needed a printer, which I don't currently have, so phoned the number instead.
After speaking to the rep:
- They will only attempt redelivery on weekdays - I'm at work and can't take a day off to wait for a parcel. because delivering 6 days means you need more staff,so more costs
- They will not leave it with a neighbour or a safe place (apparently this was specified by the sender, but they made no mention of this on their website) which website? never assume this option is available with ant carrier
- Therefore I can only collect it from the depot which is the other side of the city (not blaming them for that one! That's just geography).
- They only only hold it at the depot for 5 days, and for this they INCLUDE Saturdays and Sundays, and as they claim they tried to deliver it on Thursday 12th (I have no card for this) I have to get it by Tuesday 16th.
- Sods law my car is out of action at the moment - normally I'm happy to bus about places but I have never been to this side of town before and the parcel is quite big, unwieldy and it's not a good idea to attract attention to yourself when you don't know where you are! This is why I wanted it delivered!
If only they would be willing to redeliver next Saturday then I would be in
<whinge over>
did you offer to pay for delivery on Saturday? No offence but not having a car and you having 'work days'
would it not have made more sense to use a site that used RM (6 day service),a courier with a closer depot, or pay more and buy instore
I can't drive/do much just now after surgery. so i make my choices around that0 -
It always amazes me how many people order parcels to be delivered to their home address when they work all day, 5-days a week, then moan they have no way of getting their parcel0

Some people - when they work all day every day find this is the only way to order stuff or shop even. Are you retired by any chance?0 -
Why on earth does it amaze you?? We order online as when we are not in the pm will leave a card to say that he tried to deliver. Then we call in at the main po to pick up or we can arrange for another delivery time. At least if that happens it doesnt go to the wrong address.....

but the poster in question works the days the courier delivers, and can't get to the depot.
If you work all day, every day(giggle),then why would you need to oprder anything except work clothes?
When I worked as a chef I rarely ordered online,given I wwas hardly ever home0 -
Not all sites tell you in advance which courier they use.0

thats right, however the majority work Monday to Friday and don't give specific times
If people are on strict avaialbility, then they either confirm before ordering or accept they may have to make an effort to recieve their items0
