  • In no particular order - just as they occur to me, so hopefully it will remind me not to forget anything important!
    • Finish cleaning the house
    • Pack!
    • Change the details for my paypacket to my new FD account
    • Check to see when that will take place by – if it’s not by my next pay at the end of this month then I will need to arrange for a transfer of funds into my FD account to cover all of the outgoings that FD have now taken over...
    • Speak to FD about opening a Regular Saver.
    • If possible arrange for £300 to be taken out of my account at the start of next month (I like to have all my outgoings at the start of the month J) and fill in a Standing Order for another £300 for the next 11 months.
    • Close the FD eSaver account that they have opened for me. I won’t be using it.
    • Check to if I can make online transfers easily between my FD and my HSBC account.
    • Check to see if I can see FD online at all!
    • Chase up Santander about what is happening with my bloody ISA!
    • Wait impatiently for my ‘final’ gas bill from BG. If I don’t get it before I leave I will have to transfer the money while I am in NZ as I want all my BG accounts close so I never (fingers crossed) have to deal with them ever ever again!
    • Check with HSBC as to whether I need to have a certain amount of money coming into my account with them to either keep it open or to avoid charges. I can’t remember and I don’t want any nasty surprises….
    • Get my nPower online account setup and see if I can get an app or something for my iPhone to input monthly meter readings so my bills are as accurate as possible.
    • If this is possible – set a reminder in my phone so I don’t forget to do it! Lol.
    • Clear everything out of my fridge, put out my rubbish and turn off everything I can so my bills are low/non existent while I’m away.
    • Sign up for a request to get a water meter.
    • Return my LoveFilm DVD
    • Take a payment holiday from LoveFilm.
    • Try to not let my head explode and be so full of stuff that I get another crappy nights sleep!

    • Change the details for my paypacket to my new FD account - I'll do this tommorrow at work

    • Check to if I can make online transfers easily between my FD and my HSBC account. - Looks like it will be easy
    • Check to see if I can see FD online at all! - I need to set up Telephone Banking before Internet Banking works apparently. Go figure.
    • Chase up Santander about what is happening with my bloody ISA! - I have a Customer Service (cough, cough) number. If I have time I'll ring tomorrow. So, probably not!
    • Wait impatiently for my ‘final’ gas bill from BG. If I don’t get it before I leave I will have to transfer the money while I am in NZ as I want all my BG accounts close so I never (fingers crossed) have to deal with them ever ever again!

    • Get my nPower online account setup and see if I can get an app or something for my iPhone to input monthly meter readings so my bills are as accurate as possible. - Halfway done. When I tried to do the whole thing I was told that I was too new a customer. Hah too organised! I have downloaded my iPhone app though so all ready to go!
    • If this is possible – set a reminder in my phone so I don’t forget to do it! Lol. - This looks to be part of the things you can set up online so this should be easy. I did set up a reminder to check around for better deals at the end of November though when this deal runs out...

OMG, that's not a to-do list, that's Mission Impossible! You are sooo organsied!
Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck :)

    Phase 1 - Emergency Fund - Complete :j
    Phase 2 - £20,000 Mortgage Fund - Underway
  • Slight setback – when I bought in all of my Bank Details today I forgot a tiny little thing like the account number… What an Edjit! So, I won’t be doing any of the First Direct things today. Tomorrow…

I also have remembered another couple of things to add to the list:
    • Ring Oyster and check that I haven’t been overcharged for a couple of my journeys
    • Speak/Leave a note for the guy who lives upstairs from me so he knows I am away and ask him to put out the last of my rubbish on Friday morning as I’ll be gone
    • Get a cardboard box for outside my door where Colin can drop in all of my mail

As I’m being a bit forgetful I better sort out a packing list so I don’t end up forgetting to pack my passport or something equally stupid!

On a positive side I managed 2 ½ hours of overtime by coming into work early this morning. :)

  • Well, the To Do List is all finished and I nearly am as well! (I must be one of the few people who look forward to a 30 hour flight as a way to rest…)

    Santander were blooming hopeless:

What is happening with my ISA?

    Dunno.

Can I put it on hold?

    No

    Can I cancel it?

    I can’t

How much money is due to come out of my account?

    I don’t know

Where do you keep your brain?

    I’ve forgotten…

Soooo, due to this steller customer service I have decided to leave my pay coming into my old account and do some manual transfers from NZ. It will be a lot easier and as I’m keeping an eye on it it shouldn’t go t*ts up the way I have a horrible feeling it will if I rely on the bank.

Oh, after I had this above conversation (I made up the very last part), he then invited me to open a savings account with them! :rotfl:

    • [STRIKE]Finish cleaning the house[/STRIKE] – Umm, well, mostly!
    • [STRIKE]Pack![/STRIKE] – Done. Now lets just see what I’ve forgotten!
    • [STRIKE]Change the details for my paypacket to my new FD account[/STRIKE] – Decided not to yet due to the whole Santander ISA issue
    • [STRIKE]Check to see when that will take place by – if it’s not by my next pay at the end of this month then I will need to arrange for a transfer of funds into my FD account to cover all of the outgoings that FD have now taken over...[/STRIKE] – I’ll be transferring money into my FD account instead.
    • [STRIKE]Speak to FD about opening a Regular Saver[/STRIKE]. – Done, I’ll need to ring from NZ to get this set up on the 1st or 2nd
    • [STRIKE]If possible arrange for £300 to be taken out of my account at the start of next month (I like to have all my outgoings at the start of the month J) and fill in a Standing Order for another £300 for the next 11 months.[/STRIKE] – Done, this will automatically be set up when I create the account
    • [STRIKE]Close the FD eSaver account that they have opened for me. I won’t be using it. [/STRIKE] - Done
    • [STRIKE]Check to if I can make online transfers easily between my FD and my HSBC account.[/STRIKE] – Done. Piece of pie.
    • [STRIKE]Check to see if I can see FD online at all![/STRIKE] – Everything is done either online or I can do phone if I want. Great stuff!
    • [STRIKE]Chase up Santander about what is happening with my bloody ISA[/STRIKE]! - Done - answer - 'they don't know'.
    • [STRIKE]Wait impatiently for my ‘final’ gas bill from BG. If I don’t get it before I leave I will have to transfer the money while I am in NZ as I want all my BG accounts close so I never (fingers crossed) have to deal with them ever ever again![/STRIKE] – Bah! Still nothing…
    • [STRIKE]Check with HSBC as to whether I need to have a certain amount of money coming into my account with them to either keep it open or to avoid charges. I can’t remember and I don’t want any nasty surprises…. [/STRIKE]– Not needed now as I will keep this open for another month
    • [STRIKE]Get my nPower online account setup and see if I can get an app or something for my iPhone to input monthly meter readings so my bills are as accurate as possible.[/STRIKE] - Done
    • [STRIKE]If this is possible – set a reminder in my phone so I don’t forget to do it! Lol.[/STRIKE] - done
    • [STRIKE]Clear everything out of my fridge, put out my rubbish and turn off everything I can so my bills are low/non existent while I’m away[/STRIKE]. - Done, said a sad goodbye to 4 wasted eggs. Sob.
    • [STRIKE]Sign up for a request to get a water meter.[/STRIKE] - Done
    • [STRIKE]Return my LoveFilm DVD[/STRIKE] - Done
    • [STRIKE]Take a payment holiday from LoveFilm[/STRIKE]. - Done
    • [STRIKE]Try to not let my head explode and be so full of stuff that I get another crappy nights sleep![/STRIKE] – Surprising done!
    • [STRIKE]Update my Mortgage spreadsheet with my latest OP[/STRIKE] - Done

  • Just a quick note in my diary to say that my holiday is going great and that I am still MSE'ing all the way over this side of the world! The exchange rate is especially crappy so I am not spending up a storm like I did last year and am enjoying the free things - such as 'WAY' too much sun (I forget how horrendous the sun is in NZ), beaches, walks and I'm reading lots of books. I've been chomping my way through my 1001 (which is actually closer to 1500) books you must read before you die list. Read The Handmaidens Tale yesterday and The Grapes of Wrath the day before. Just going to head down to the libary for some more brain food before heading to a local cafe for brunch with a whole bunch of my old school friends. Haven't seen them in over 15 years!
