For some reason (IT incompetence) I can't cut and paste this but it's on p73.

Edit- ps you are right, lots of benefit payment dates are based on the claimants NI number, and this seems to be intended as the basis for more benefits over time, but DLA hasn't caught up yet.
  • Sorry (this is very petty and unlikely to improve anyone's life) but it is not a 4 weekly benefit it is weekly. The DM has discretion to alter this for pragmatic reasons but the starting point is weekly on Wednesday- this is not a grey area but regulation.

its not a weekly benefit, my child recieves dla it is 4 weekly as so is everyone elses and will be awarded as a 4 weekly ben when recieved. you have to request it be paid weekly with good reason. no agree it doesnt imporve life but for somepeople it improves budgeting.

It is a grey area, as the DMG contradicts itself. It states that it is a weekly benefit, paid four weekly.
    Gone ... or have I?

My son has been receiving his DLA weekly for 3 years now
it all stemmed from an initial mistake about whose bank account the benefit was to be paid into when he turned 16 -

we had set him up a new account ( joint with me- his request) and the form was completed accordingly ( the award was due to run out the day before his 16th birthday) however
the payment was processed and paid into the new account some 2 months before his birthday ( this was in the good old days when you got your renewal forms 6 months before the award lapsed)

I phoned and complained as we hadn't had chance to set up new standing orders for some of his care needs from the new account and the standing orders in the old account bounced.

We got through to a lovely lady in the complaints department who agreed we could keep the money paid into the new account ( as it was their mistake) AND who sent us a Giro for the his benefit out weekly until his birthday when it was due to go into the new account.

For some reason ever since then it has been paid weekly - it makes no difference to us as sons standing orders for some of his medical and therapy needs come out at various times of the month - but I can understand it helping with purchasing things on a week to week basis for some families.

on my daughter award form it states that she is entitled to xxx amount a week, paid into xxxx 4 weekly.

by weekly i thought they ment the entitlement amount per week.

    e.g

    entitled to 18.00 per week,

paid 4 weekly of the amount of 74.00 paid on the xx of xxx.

so as ive allways seen it your entitled to that amount and paid it in a lump sum 4 weekly.

so you maybe entitled to 18 quid a week for eg but not entitled to be paid it weekly as i understood it.
