Took son and his friend to try - it was really difficult to sort out, but the member of staff and the manager couldn't have been nicer!
Got one each for the kids - they were thrilled!

I reserved bear, raincoat and rucksack last night, for £12.99. I should have printed it out, but was being eco friendly.

I headed down to the store this afternoon, but when I put the reservation number into the Pay machine the cost came to £21 ish. As I didn't have a copy of the reservation email I was stuck. This store is the only local one to have the raincoat and rucksack in so I removed the bear from the order and bought the other 2 items. I forgot about Mrs Santa :(

I then went to the store in the shopping centre and tried various combinations. The only accessory they had in stock was the mobile phone. I eventually gave up and just bought Mrs Santa outfit.

After all that hard work I needed a coffee. Whilst enjoying the drink I logged on to Argos via my iphone. "I wonder if it will work on here?" I thought. Lo and behold, it did work. So I reserved honeybear, rock'n'roll outfit and another rucksack from the original store. This came up as £13.99. I kept the reservation page open on my phone, having had an email sent to an email address I can easily access from my phone.

So back to the original store. I tried the instant pay machine, but it wanted to charge me £21ish. I next tried the normal check-out. Again the till wanted to charge me £21ish. I produced my phone with the £13.99 charge. The assistant went to her manager who was quite confused. I was tempted to just give up, and go back with a print-out. He was willing to put the sale through with written proof that Reserve and Collect was allowing this.

He looked at the reservation page on my phone and couldn't understand how it had happened. The assistant brought a catalogue and they tried to find out what was going on. I tried to explain but he wasn't having any of it. He realised it was a "blip" that I was trying to use. After much scribbling on his notebook, and me explaining several times how it was done, he eventually understood that the reserve and collect system is set up to remove £8.26 from the price of the bear, making the bear £5.01. The instore system is set up differently. Having worked that out he agreed to sell me it for that price.

For some strange reason the till then decided to take a further £1 off, so I came away with the whole lot for £12.99

If you want to use the glitch and buy a reduced price outfit and accessory make sure you take a print out of the reservation details. That way you can show that the system takes the extra money off the price of the bear and leaves the other prices as they are. It's also helpful to show them p1640/1641 of the catalogue which says "Save £7.98" That partly reinforces the idea of that amount of money being taken off the total to make the £19.99 deal. The new VAT rate just makes the system take £8.26 instead.

    Good luck!
