wow multiple trolling in one thread, my ignore list is growing daily
abby, a friend of mine was in a similar situation, and now she's graduated and earning she'll be paying back far more i tax/ni than she's received so i think the trade of is well worth it.Nonny mouse and Proud!!

I couldn't imagine looking after a child single-handedly and completing a degree at the same time. Each on it's own is a great deal of work. Why would anyone attempt to do both at the same time?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

The last posting is a disgrace. How selfish that she expects other people to pay for her and her child so she can afford to go to uni and get the job she wants.I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!0

Troll? Not me. Merely stating that abby.... has no thought whatsoever for the people who are paying her housing benefit, etc, etc, so that she can do a degree and get a good job. The country has no money and yet people are demanding their "entitlements". If Abby... is intelligent enough to do a degree surely not getting pregnant wouldn't have been that difficult. To be honest it's the baby I feel sorry for the most. Life is hard enough as it is without a bad start in life0

If a baby is going to be born into a single parent family I would far rather it be born to a mum who is continuing her education getting a degree and intending to earn a decent living. A far better role model than a single mum who makes benefits a career choice.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Depends on when and where she is doing her degree.
is she at a russel group uni or an ex-poly ?
is she studying a subject we have shortage of people for or she doing "meedja" studies ?
Is she heading for a first or a third ?
if the answer to any of those questions is the latter, then the chances of her getting a decent career and paying back the tax payer are very slim.
I'm not going to speculate as to what the answers to those questions, but to get pregnant while at uni is quite illuminating as to what those answers probably are.0 -

would now be a good time to mention that once at uni then with that level of income, and a kid in tow, she will be "entitled" to hardship funds to supplement her income - there is even a tax payer funded one called ALF... rationale for this in in its title Access To Learning Fund for those who could not otherwise afford it (yes it is means tested) but who will ultimately improve the skill level of this country
I fully agree with Silvercar - good on her for looking to better herself and get a graduate level job not live off benefits or sponge off income support becuase she's in a dead end job0 -
