Stinky sofa

I got us a new sofa this year, & chose a synthetic leather so I can clean up spills easily, with 2 removable & washable covers so the spills shouldn't get to it. Started with 1 cover, then swapped it for the other when first cover was getting grubby.
Well, I followed the washing instructions & dried the cover on the line carefully, but it really smells of fish glue now. Yuck! I haven't put it back on the sofa yet & don't want to wash the other cover in case that starts to smell nasty too.
The weather doesn't help of course, or I'd leave it outside in fresh dry air & wind... I have sprayed it with supermarket's own fabric spray liberally...
Does anyone have more suggestions?0 -
